Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) has come under withering fire on the presidential campaign trail in recent days over allegations that a newsletter he edited years ago contained racist commentary. I am a firm believer in former President Ronald Reagans commandment not to speak ill of a fellow Republican, but racism has no place in our society today, and Pauls comments on race should disqualify him from holding the most powerful job in the world.
Many of the inflammatory comments in the Paul newsletters were published in the 1980s and 1990s. That these disturbing remarks came under such headings as Ron Paul Political Report," "Ron Paul Survival Report," and "Ron Pauls Freedom Report leaves me unable to reconcile Pauls present disavowals.
For example, in a December 1989 Paul newsletter that was quoted by James Kirchick in the New Republic, a prediction was postulated, racial violence will fill our cities [because] mostly black welfare recipients will feel justified in stealing from mostly white haves. Or, another Paul letter opined, I think we can assume that 95 percent of the black men in that city [Washington, D.C.] are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.
These are not comments to be dismissed or explained away as an off-the-cuff remark by a politician taken out of context. To me, they represent something deeper and far more disturbinga conviction that blacks are pre-disposed to be violent and seeking to enrich themselves at the expense of whites.
On the eve of the first-in-the-nation Iowa Caucuses on Tuesday, Congressman Paul is in a statistical dead heat with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for the lead. Does Paul represent the mainstream thinking of the Republican Party of the 21st Century? I think not. I just hope others take the time to investigate Pauls statements on race (to say nothing of his belief that the U.S. brought 9/11 upon itself due to our foreign policy) and conclude that he is the wrong leader at the wrong time to lead America for the next four yearsor ever.
To the headline: yes.
He is also a flaming anti-Semite, suggesting Israel was behind the 2001 WTC attacks!
With their up and down campaigns, other candidates have been the “Flavor of the Month.”
Paul is “Seasonal Fruit.”
Is Ron Paul Racist?
(Yes. Yes he is.)

(Not sure what the 11th commandment has to do with RoPaul. Because if anyone believes that this kook-wad is a Republican - they need their head examined. Paul is a Libertarian. See tagline)
I don’t know but if his name was on the newsletter and he was profiting from it, I don’t see how he cannot take some responsibilty for it. He is clearly ducking the issue.
He’s not racist, a bit of a wing nut, possibly an anti-Semite(but not a traditional racist). What he is is terribly naive. Much of what he stands for is constitutional governance, his foreign policy is crazy.
Obammy has several books on the subject of racialism. Is only black racialism allowed?
He's also a philandering waffler who would believe in his core principles if he could only remember them...lol.
Clicking over to drudge to freep the caucus poll right now.
Imagine how much better things would be had McWhatshisname won last time.
Go team go!
That makes any other accusations anyone cares to make about him true.
Ron Paul is either a racist or a fool or both. If he did not know what was being sent out in his newsletters, he is a fool though maybe not a racist. If he knew the content of his newsletters before they were released, he is clearly a racist.
Why doesn’t somebody just ask him?
Ron Paul is either a racist or a fool or both. If he did not know what was being sent out in his newsletters, he is a fool though maybe not a racist. If he knew the content of his newsletters before they were released, he is clearly a racist. But then both of the Obamas are racists, so is it really a big deal?
Are racists paulists? You betcha. Now why is that?
Christian, married for decades to the same wonderful WOMAN, white, Conservative, Tea Party backer, former military, gun owner and retired former private business owner here and someone eric holder and obammy say is a racist because I do no like obammy?
Only to the less informed. Personally I’d love to get back to his idea of the 10th amendment governance. The problem with libertarians comes with the globalization of trade.
If half the things that he has been quoted on are accurate, he has disqualified himself, utterly.
Some porky Miss Smartypants for ABC (I think) tried that last week, and he took his microphone off and left in the middle of the interview. The Paulestinians are at their cutest when they say the MSM has been purposely ignoring their candidate.
The fact is that for 20 years this schemer has been consistently avoiding any question he does not want to answer, and any questioner he thinks might ask one.
They run around saying he's pro-life, but he has a 56% rating from NRTL.
