Suspect was self-medicating, father says
Stewart’s father described his oldest son as having mental problems and said he was “self-medicating” with marijuana.
“We were concerned for him. But there was just nothing we could do for him. He wouldn’t have anything to do with his mother or his father,” Michael Stewart told the Deseret News Thursday.
He said his 37-year-old son has been estranged from his family for several years.

There was a man shot to death in Bellingham, WA last year by his mentally ill son who was self-medicating with marijuana. We have medical marijuana, here. Some of the proponents of medical marijuana have been pushing marijuana as a substitute to prescribed psychotropic drugs.

Marijuana is beneficial for a number of conditions; I'm not aware of any research that shows that violent psychopathology is one of them.

Yeah, well marijuana maybe beneficial for some conditions, but there are medicinal versions of the drug that can be used without smoking it.
The case in Bellingham, the guy was psychotic and under medical supervision, but decided that it was better to self medicate with marijuana, as the free drug crowd had told him that marijuana would cure what ailed him and make everything ok. He went nuts, and tried to kill his mother and sister. The father tried to stop him and got killed, instead. Marijuana is not a cure for psychosis, violent or otherwise. This man had not been violent before.
Oral administration is harder to titrate, and not appropriate for patients with nausea. Also irrelevant to the cases under discussion, absent evidence that oral cannabis is any better for mental patients than smoked.

Ron Paul is actually advocating the same steps to win the support of young people that George Soros uses when he goes into a new country, legalization of drugs and abortion. it’s a ploy to win the hearts and minds of the younger, less serious generation. I’d bet that Ron Paul’s foreign policy isn’t that different than what George Soros would propose, either. It’s odd that a Libertarian would and World Socialist would use the same organizing methods, don’t you think?

Legalizing drugs will reduce or eliminate the problems exacerbated or caused by drug criminalization: the channeling of criminalization-inflated drug profits into criminal hands, the subsequent use of those profits to arm themselves and corrupt law enforcement, and the increased motivation for addicts to commit crimes to pay criminalization-inflated prices for their habits.
