When White House press secretary Jay Carney uses the phrase "the previous administration" it is usually an opportunity for him to point out that President Obama "inherited" problems and a poor economy from former President Bush.

However, at today's press briefing, Carney was more than happy to cite the Bush administration when it came to explaining President Obama's recent recess appointment of Richard Cordray to head the watchdog Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

They’re in recess. Period.

The Constitution has been violated. Period.

We are under attack.

When did Bush make recess appointments when Congress was not in recess? Or did a reporter even think to ask that.

"Carney... was more than happy to cite the Bush administration for legal precedent."

Like his boss, he's a psychopathic/leftwing liar! Harry REID did the same pro forma sessions every three days to prevent Bush from making recess appointments during three different Senate breaks - and BUSH made no appointments during those breaks.

Here's the conclusive proof from the public policy research arm of the United States Congress ("Congress's think tank").

CONGRESSIONAL RESEARCH SERVICE REPORT TO CONGRESS
[ Updated March 12, 2008, Order Code RS21308, LINK ]
"How Long Must the Senate Be in Recess Before a President May Make a Recess Appointment?"

"The Constitution does not specify the length of time that the Senate must be in recess before the President may make a recess appointment. Over the last century, as shorter recesses have become more commonplace, the Department of Justice has offered differing views on this issue. Most recently, in 1993, a Justice Department brief implied that the President may make a recess appointment during a recess of more than three days. On at least three occasions, the Senate has used procedural tools to prevent the occurrence of a recess of more than three days for the stated purpose of preventing such appointments: the 2007 Thanksgiving holiday period, the period between the first and second sessions of the 110th Congress, and the 2008 Presidents Day holiday period. In each of these cases, the Senate {under Harry Reid} met in pro forma sessions (during which no business was to be conducted) every three or four days over the course of what otherwise would have been a longer Senate recess. The President {Bush} made no recess appointments during these periods."

Obama is just...doing this for the little people....fighting against a do-nothing Congress...fighting against the 1%.

This is the same type of rhetoric South American dictators use when they consolidate power.

and BUSH made no appointments during those breaks

Of course not. Bush honored the Constitution when it worked against him...you know, when it counts. Honoring it when it works for you doesn't require any honor.

Obama simply has no honor for the Constitution, or America for that matter. Unfortunately, about half of all Americans are too stupid or deluded to care.

Tomorrow, they will be wandering around telling each other that Bush did it too.....

Carney seems to think or has been given a lot more latitude than previous press secretaries. It’s his job to answer questions - not give lectures to the press. He doesn’t have any responsibility for policy decisions - OR DOES HE? His comments are totally uncalled for - answer the questions doofus and stop covering up for your boss.

You might want to read my post again, I did not ask if bush ever made any recess appointments. Only if he made any when Congress was not in recess.
