Longtime Alabama schoolteacher molested at least 20 girls, he tells police

An Alabama schoolteacher was jailed on charges of sexually abusing a fourth-grade female student, and police said Thursday the man told them he molested more than 20 other girls over his 25-year career.

Alabaster police said Daniel Montague Acker Jr., 49, was charged with three counts of sexual abuse, and additional charges were possible.

"This is not a one-time event," said Deputy Chief Curtis Rigney. "This happened over a period of 25 years."

Acker taught fourth grade at three schools and drove buses in the Shelby County school system from 1985 until he retired in 2009. He was investigated on similar allegations in 1992, but grand jurors did not return an indictment, said Rigney.

A girl who is now 12 or 13 came forward within the last week claiming Acker molested her around 2009, when he was a teacher at Thompson Intermediate School, Rigney said. He wouldn't say what drove the girl to go to police.

I’ve got the same three words that I’d use for the homoped football coach from Penn State, or any other sick perv that hurts a child:

Shoot the f*cker.

Right in his b*lls so he’ll never be able to get it up again.

I would have the penis removed not the testes. That way he’d still want to have sex but be unable to.

Any scumbag that hurts a kid deserves a serious amount of pain.

There are predators in the world that go after those that they perceive to be weaker; the elderly, the young, anyone that poses no immediate risk of retaliatory harm to them.

In a better world, these types of assh*les, when found guilty, would be removed from society so as not to pose a danger to anyone ever again.

Unfortunately, we live in a society that has been ruined by bleeding heart liberal emotionalism - and because of that, these creatures get released to hurt other innocents over and over again. They’re just “ill”...they have “problems”...they never had a pony growing up.

Please...spare me...it makes you want to puke.

To my mind, some Old West justice needs to be administered to people like this. Preferably by the fathers of these molested children.

I'd reenact the “Gimp” scene from Pulp Fiction...complete with shotgun and “calling in the pipe wielding, blowtorch carrying n*ggers that were about to get Medieval on his ass.”

All the cops in the world wouldn’t be able to stop me from getting to someone that ever hurt my kid(s).

Might not be right away, but there’d be a day we’d meet up. At a time of my choosing.

“Medieval” is too gentle a description, believe me.

If only teachers were allowed to marry, these tragedies could be avoided.

Wrong. The only difference is that it is harder to avoid the crime if both waant to participate (17 yo and 22 ye student and teacher). It is still wrong morally. It is still wrong legally. It is still wrong according to the teacher’s employment contract. It does not matter how willing the partners are. What part of that don’t you understand?

So do hogs. And they don’t leave too much behind.

But that’s like saying there is no difference between an severe assault by an armed robber, which leaves the victim with lasting physical and psychological injuries, and a pickpocket taking someone’s wallet.

Both are crimes, and BMSkipper would not dispute that. But they are crimes of a different type and degree. They have little in common, except that both are theft.

Not a good analogy. Neither your wallet, nor your pocket, are at risk of suffering long term psychological damage like a statutory rape victim might. And disregarding the human damage, what about the long term damage the teacher (rapist) does to his employer (school)? A pickpocket does not equate at all.

Thinking of an actual example: Monica Lewinsky was schtupping her drama teacher under the stage at her high school. Many of her school mates knew about it. We al know what course Monica’s life has taken. What about her classmates who may have made wrong choices as a result of her example? Even her teacher didn’t make great choices after he left the school.

There are many, many ramifications that emanate from a wrong choice that probably looked like fun at the time. The teacher is supposed to know better, even when the student doesn’t.

For some people on this thread to read.

The most probable pedophiles in order are:

Fathers
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers

Priests are way down on the list.

So if a father is a teacher of mid-high history, coaches the girl’s basketball team and is a youth minister at his church on weekends/Sundays — watch out! He would be much more prone to pedophilia that any priest.

And his background indicates the following:

snip

Acker’s father, Dan M. Acker, is a longtime commissioner in Shelby County, just south of Birmingham, but Rigney said there was no indication his father’s position helped the teacher avoid charges earlier.

Shelby County schools spokeswoman Cindy Warner said Acker was placed on leave while child abuse allegations were investigated in October 1992, and the county school board voted against firing him in February 1993 after grand jurors did not indict him. She said Acker was reinstated as a fourth-grade teacher at Creek View Elementary, where he worked before moving to Thompson Intermediate.

Well...no matter where they come from, they share remarkable similarities in their personalities and behaviors.

Of course most teachers, parents, coaches, and volunteers are not abusive.

But what about that small group of teachers who want to be “cool”. They want to befriend the students rather than present themselves as an authority figure.
Or the volunteer of “x” outreach group - who just loves sleepovers - what isn’t to like about a sleepover right?

And as we can now compare the thoughts and words of Michael Jackson and Jerry Sandusky...we see personalities that like to see the world as “us vs them” where the “us” group is composed of the child/adult plus the children vs. all the other adults. They will complain the poor kids have not received love and affection from their parents, and so they had to step in and fill that role.

It would be beneficial for everyone to stop trying to point fingers are certain groups - and instead, start teaching the public about certain behaviors.

Exactly.

I can't fathom the thought process of a person who refuses to understand that. Apparently, shoplifting a pack of gum is the same as Bernie Madoff; punching someone in the face it the same as shooting them; and consensual sex with a 17 year old is the same as raping a toddler.

In my world, the 18 year old boy who has sex with my 16 year old daughter should be handled a bit differently than the same boy having sex with my 8 year old neighbor, but hey, maybe that's just me.
