The Obama administration defended its healthcare overhaul law before the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, rejecting arguments by critics who warned that if the government can require people to have health insurance, it might next make them eat broccoli. Administration attorneys, in court filings and at a briefing, said Congress was within its constitutional powers in requiring Americans to buy insurance by 2014 or pay a penalty, a centerpiece of the law known as the individual mandate.
The law's opponents have argued that Congress overstepped its authority and have raised the hypothetical question of whether Congress next could require that all Americans eat broccoli because of the nation's obesity crisis.
The Supreme Court has scheduled three days of oral arguments in the legal battle for March 26-28, with an election-year ruling expected by the end of June.
A Supreme Court ruling striking down the law would be a major political and legal setback for Obama ahead of the election, while a decision upholding it would be vindication. Polls show Americans deeply divided over the law.
The administration's arguments in its brief backing the law...... cited a law that Massachusetts adopted in 2006 when Mitt Romney was governor.

Chief Justice John Roberts better get his crew squared away to rule in favor of 0bamaCare, because if he doesn’t watch his step, il Douche will appoint MORE Supreme Court Justices, no matter if there aren’t any vacancies, see ‘Cordray’ for the precedent, what didn’t work for FDR back in the 30’s will probably work for the Kenyan usurper today.
It’s got another kicker as well... and if you have two kickers in the same court case, well, you’ve then have no leg whatsoever to stand on - you fall down on your keester!
The other kicker: The Admin’s solicitor general’s office buttresses the filing. In the 130 page filing, I count 4 different officers of the office named. Of note is that Sebelius is absent. What’s the difference with a Sibelious being a judge overseeing this case on the Supremes versus a Kagen? [other than that Kagen is a Supreme and Sebelius is at most a Supreme wannabe]. Is Sebelius now with a wall around her, like Kagen before her? Are they setting up a strawman with some kinky thing where the head of the solicitor’s office NOT mentioned in a prominent filing, with 4 other top officials mentioned?
Soon Obama will decree that all new cars purchased in the U.S. MUST be Chevy volts. I see NO difference between this hellcare mandate and the govt telling us we MUST buy other products.
There is no doubt now that the GM bailout was a way to keep the UAW in business with it's older company-killing contracts completely intact. And to make it work, WE are now forced to buy these cars... not for our own uses, but for most or all of our municipal, state, and federal government purchases.

This so freakin' anti-American it is mind boggling, yet people keep on falling for this crap. The African American community for decades has been enslaved by these SOBs and now they are trying to pull it over the rest of America. It is truly an evil evil party that needs to be just voted out of existence which is going to be tough now that they've also infiltrated the Republican party and somehow managed to make one of their own, this freakin' Romney the #1 candidate.

And he’s the guy you want to debate Obama?
Did he really say that? Would be great to put o and his twin hugo together and see if they belong to the same puppeteer.
Obama’s fight against the American people continues. The fact that the American people don’t want this law is obvious, but Obama continues to push for it. Seems kind of stupid, doesn’t it?
Hey, ask someone who survived the old Soviet Union about stupidity. Yakov Smirnoff made a career out of it!
Not me Bro.
