The Sunday Morning Bray, by Bray!
But if anyone obeys his word, Gods LOVE is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 1 John 2:5
The Cornfields of Iowa and bussed in libertarians have spoken and they have clearly said they dont like Romney. They also said that they do like social Conservatives who will stand up against abortion. What we have now is a race between the Country Club member against the tag team of Santorum and Gingrich. In less than 24 hours the election process became very clear and actually worked the way it is supposed to work in the end. Everybodys strengths and weaknesses were revealed so we know exactly what we have, a NE Liberal, two Conservatives and a kook.
The big losers in this race were Bachman and Perry. Michelle just never got any traction and simply seemed like an ankle biter who blindly attacked people and then wanted people to take her seriously. She never really had a deep understanding or conviction of what conservatism stood for or the ability to articulate it. Speaking of not being able to articulate, Rick Perry was a great guy who is a conservative but his first impression was of another tongue tied Texan and was never able to reverse that.
Crazy Uncle Ron Pat Paulson has his kook following who will bounce with him wherever he goes but nobody can take his foreign policy seriously let alone his legalization of heroin had inflated numbers. When half of his support was people who applied to vote the day of the caucus tells you he is actually around Perry or lower in actual Repub support, we now see where we may be in actual votes. This election still has a real opportunity of having a solid conservative as the nominee for the first time since Reagan and that is exciting.
The story of the election of course was Rick Santorum. Here is a guy who everybody wanted to vote for because of his unwavering understanding of social conservatism as it relates to the fabric of this country. He not only speaks it but as we found out from his victory speech walks the walk having a handicapped child who was not supposed to live a year and is 3 already. Just like Palin he is hated viciously by the atheistic libs due to his fear of God, his willingness to speak the truth and his opposition to the sacrament of liberalism, abortion. He is the type of conservative they want to silence because he exposes them of their hatred of America and our way of life. This is why we need to support this brave voice.
Newt came out of this in better than expected standing considering Mitt and his PAC spent nearly $20 million in an attempt to destroy a fellow Repub. Never mind if you agree or like Newt, when we have another candidate running for the highest most distinguished office in the land and he is willing to lie and obscure a fellow warriors record it speaks more to the attackers character than the attacked. Mitt Rino is not worthy of the nomination and should either call off his German Shepards or withdraw although there is no chance of this power crazed egomaniac of ever doing that. How can you call yourself a fiscal conservative when you are willing to spend that kind of money and not gain a single vote? The guy spends money like a drunken Dem.
The other important point that was revealed from this election was that the polls and punditocracy have no clue who is going to win these elections. When you have Newt leading by 10 pts and Rick at 4 pts total and he ends up with 25% it tells you nobody is telling the pollsters what they are going to do. These pundiots are the most overpaid and corrupt people this side of the beltway with their pronouncements of floating tea leaves. They have no clue as to who is going to win election to election and havent since the introduction of the Tea Party yet they sit up there like great oracles with their all knowing attitudes. With the advent of caller ID the samples are pure garbage and so are the results. The one thing we do know however is nobody likes Romney as he is a very unlikeable individual and will not win the nomination for that reason.
If it comes down to character and the Christian Right then Rick will win this thing in the South. If it comes down to articulation of the Conservative movement than Newt will take off across the South and if the Country Club has their way it will be Romney. Mitts problem is the more they see him the less they like him and his smug demeanor. In addition, will there be some blowback on the fact he would aim his money machine at a fellow Conservative in the most vicious and mean attacks imaginable then he will end up a smoldering crater.
We need to see the Christians and the Tea Party to unify behind Rick and break this stranglehold on the Party. Most were supporting Newt reluctantly due to Cain leaving and was such a master in the debates. We knew he had a checkered past but the thought of him articulating our views overrode our distaste for his personal failings. Rick may not be the debater that Gingrich is but his family life is impeccable as well as his character and voting record. He is able to articulate conservatism very similarly to Paul Ryan but when it comes to Life, Marriage and Family he is at the top of the list. For this reason we need to rally behind him and actually have a conservative on the ticket who will give the Conservative America loving wing someone they can truly support. Lets see what happens if the base doesnt have to hold their noses so the Country Club can be happy. Lets witness what happens if the base gets energized.
After all of the drama this election has had, in the end God was in control and miraculously chose the one most Christians wanted from the beginning but thought didnt have a chance. Is he perfect, of course not; nobody is but we have not had this Conservative a candidate come out of Iowa since Robertson and with the landslide of Tea Party Conservatives last election he could bring shock and awe to the ruling elite of both parties. He is a man of the working class and now it really is the working class against the elite. Let the games begin.
Pray for America
Note: The above opinion is not necessarily mine, but FReeper Brays. If you wish to discuss this, please ping Bray.
Good morning to everybody, and Happy Birthday to Elvis (he’s 77 today).
An exceptionally weak lineup today. Seeing John McCain on the list is reason enough not to watch.
Good morning all
Wasserman-Schultz or Gregory
What a choice. lol
I’ll check out the MTP debate for a while. It has got to be better than last night’s ABC snooze-fest.
Even Chris Wallace was wondering on F&F this morning about the purpose of some of the questions the ABC panelists asked. He was especially dazed by Steffie’s going around and around on the contraception question.
[If a fellow media personality has no idea what your question was about, chances are it was a stupid question, Steffie.]
Morning AB, All
I am singing this morning but will re-join in after mass.
As always, thank you AB for doing this thread.
I contributed to the Freepathon this week as is my wont, oncit a year. Let me put in a Sunday Morning Talk show plug for this. I think it would be cool for the regular posters to make a contribution for we are the icons of what this site is about.
While I might have frustrations with FR from time to time, one thing I can say with certainty, you’ll never get a virus or malware off of Freerepublic like I did off of so many other sites over-run for advertising.
Keep posting folks that I may read your wisdom upon return and catch up.
Good thing I haven’t ate breakfast yet! Axlerod? Panetta? McCain? Deb Wasserman Schultz? all on my “must miss list” Will try to catch the debate this am since one of the sponsors is the Union Leader and they have endorsed my man, Newt:) thanks for the morning line-up.
bump
thanks AB as always...GO NEWT!! GO PERRY! GO SANTORUM!!
this politics is the ULTIMATE reality show!
Quite frankly I would like to see the entire scenario devolve into a newt vs. car salesman Romney but doubt it will happen.
Newt remains my final hope.
IF we let the DNC/DBM nominate our candidate again we will get a Romney with a father born in Mexico and a track record of Mittcare which neutralizes obamcare our biggest issue against them. This creates an uphill battle at best.
I have noticed that free republic seems slower than I remember it before or it may just be because I have gone wireless.
Thanks for the thread and the ping!
I’m for Newt too. I’ve got a hunch here that Newt’s going to make a surge.
I actually watched the debates last night, not that I have a life or anything.
I think I understant the gist of the stupid contraceptive comment.
If y’all didn’t know, Steponallofus asked a question about eliminating contraceptives, a really dumb comment that even robot Romney mocked to a hearty laugh.
I think George was referring to the so-called day-after pill. This form of “contraception” is considered, by some...by few....as a form of very early abortion.
The big wrestle on now is a state by state possible ban on selling these things to females under age 18. I believe, but don’t hold me to it, that this is the case in Delaware.
Whoever coached Steponallofus on this question likely warned him...”whatever you do, DON’T call it the day after pill. Call it something innocuous, like contraception.”
This was probably prompted by a Clinton as George is their buddy but could be an Obama operative. Spurred on by a possible big contribution by the drug manufacturer, who really wants their product considered “contraception”, not a day after. Same manufacturer seriously wants to stop states from passing laws making it legal to sell this product only to females over 18.
After all, so goes the profits, who is most likely to need this medicine but the 16 year old after a passionate prom night? How dare parents not want this type of thing sold to their daughters, without any sort of medical oversight?
Heh. Well it was a real hoot but the above is my speculation.
THe DNC has now targeted Romney as our candidate thinking that they have once again created and picked our guy-- mission accomplished!!
Washerwoman was so predictable, she says the same ol crap how the country was losing 750 k jobs when they took over never mind the were in control of Congress since 2006! They never take any responsibility for anything but blame GW.
Here are some notes I took about what washerwoman is saying about Mitt--its all stuff that applies to zero--remarkable projection!!
Romney will say anything to get elected, he has no convictions,he's a tea party extremist--try that one out!! Romeny has no core,he mischaracterizes, distortions, outright lies everything she has said directly applies directly to their side and obama they just turned it all around and then took no calls from us. Perfect exercise in how the DBM creates a lie, repeats it freezes us out and then claims it all to be true. amazing!!!
Maybe we can get her to come back into the race to simply save the country from both of these tools!
I know, wishful thinking.....
Hi snugs!
I think it’s more like most web sites have gotten faster. Free Republic software was revolutional—the database and features offered, but newer technologies not employed on FR have focused on fast page loads, etc.
It’s like using a circa 2001 PC after getting used to something made this year.
I head a group that receives people’s old, used PCs and refurbish them and give them out to the poor, etc. All have Windows XP on them (in most cases, the old hardware cannot support Vista or Win 7). After I reload everything I’m thinking, “Dang, this thing is so slow! How did I ever manage back then?”
Back to FR; I think if Jim and John Robinson tweak the FR software they could make it faster, but they’d have to do a lot of changes that would change the look and feel of what we’re used to. I don’t think they can scale up. Perhaps they could scale out (use more servers to share the load) so that could potentially speed things up, but that would cost a lot more.
“Good morning to everybody, and Happy Birthday to Elvis (hes 77 today).”
Good Morning All. As usual, a great post by our resident articulator of thoughtful prose, Bray. I thought Elvis was dead?
Morning, AB. Looks like George S is back on ABC. WOnder if he’ll explain his contraception question.
True Tom but remember all the 100% candidates stopped running.....
Great to hear form you snugs, it is crawling, the left is relentless always attacking us that probably what is slowing it down.
obamao is god... he can do no wrong and will win reelection with a super mandate.
mitt romney won the last debate and sealed himself the position of republican nominee.
A few rats will let the truth slip about how they are all praying for mitt to win.
The TEA Party will be pronounced dead for the 1,998,311,423,671 time.
Someone somewhere will blame Bush.
LLS
I find it take longer to post than it did I keep getting icon as if it trying to find the page each I hit post
The drivebys are desperate to pick our guy. mitt filibustering in this debate.
Yup, Stepinawfulpis just living up to his name with that one.
Listening to Ditsy Debbie is like fingernails on the blackboard. Her motto: I will twist the facts to my liking.
I’ll have to check it later but God bless
Sarah!
She wouldn’t know the truth if it hit her in the face. Already blaming Bush. It’s the only thing she has.
ABC, George S in front of a live audience, replays debate highlights (at least in George’s mind).
Now we get to hear what Axelrod thinks of these debates. Axelrod says 4 million people have obama to thank for their jobs (auto industry).
George asks Axel about unemployment no’s; Axel says it’s going in the right direction. Axelrod says Romney can’t back up the 100,000 jobs created with the Bain deal.
Axelrod says conservatives don’t trust Romney, he shifts around on positions, Bain mentality is not what’s needed in this economy.
Talking about The One’s recess appointments and there is a quick screen shot of Washerwoman. She glances to her left and nods her head. Wonder who is off screen advising her?
Washerwoman is having a real hard time with Wallace. He is not letting her get away with her usual drivel. I expect a fist fight to break out any minute.
Wallace doing a pretty good job of bich-slapping Schultz.
George S on ABC replays Perry comments about the Defense budget. Axelrod says Perry has problems with numbers, gets laughter from the audience. Says obama’s defense street cred (paraphrased) can’t be questioned since he took out Bin Laden, blah, blah, blah. Robert Gates said the decision to take out Bin Laden was the most courageous thing he’s seen a president ever do. (allrighty!)
George asks abouty Jodi Kantor’s book, “the obamas”, and Michelle’s influence in the White House. Swats away any criticism of Michelle......things taken out of context.
Now switching to Huckabee - compares debate last night to Nascar race. surprised there wasn’t a pile up with Romney in the middle of the pile up. (rolling eyes)
Huckabee thinks Romney could run the tables in these first primaries. Last night was critical for the rest of the pack to go after Romney. They didn’t do it.
OH NO!
The Nut is on FNS. (It’s all America’s Fault pass that joint)
Compared to 0bama, Ron Paul is logically sane and Huntsman is a raging conservative.
It remains to be seen but I’m hopeful Santorum can find some charisma and Newt can tame his mouth a little better.
Romney did well last night but he’s still not attracting the Republican conservative base.
The biggest loser last night was ABC and the viewers. ABC for proving how lame they are and viewers for wasting time watching it. After an hour of homosexuality and abortion being touted out as something voters might be interested in, we’re not, I finally just turned the whole debacle off and went to bed.
Thanks, for the ping(s). :)
Step-in on This’ Weak making fun of George Will for calling Santorum a “fun candidate” saying if anyone knows about fun it’s George Will (and his bowtie)
Playing in front of a live audience like a comedy show. They’re getting a lot of laughs. Yukking it up.
A threesome of reprehensibility.
ABC with George S. and Huckabee - Huckabee at the end reminds everyone about obama’s record.
Round table now
George Will - Santorum couldn’t attack Romney too much since he agrees with him on a lot issues except for social conservative issues, but Santorum doesn’t want to talk about social conservative issues like Terri Schaivo, etc.
MaryMatalin - Santorum is blue collar, ethnic; he’s a full spectrum conservative (?)
Jake Tapper - asked about Huntsman talking in Chinese; voters in NH speak Cantonese, not Mandarin (rim shot),
Brazile - says Romney has no passion; looks good on paper, but doesn’t get voters excited (she’s right)
Will responds that the passion in the Republican party is the Tea Party; so far noone has spoken to the Tea Party’s ideals - the problem with the economy is not obama, it’s big government. If a candidate speaks to limited government, then the Tea Party will get on board.
Yhea...its better on FR.
Last night was the first time I’d seen Paul in action - that guy is NUTTY. If I didn’t know what he looked like, I would imagine an old woman wearing an ill-fitting dress and a chiffon scarf was speaking. He’s sounds like a whiny old woman.
Brazile on ABC round table outlined the ideal job for each of the Repub. candidates -
Santorum - ambassador to the Vatican
Paul - Sec. of Defense
Huntsman - ambassador to China
Perry - head of DOE, that way he could eliminate his own job. (lol)
[FR hiccupped when I was doing the credit card, so I ended up double donating. :) ]/////
I know, same here. :)
I actually found myself enjoying the This’ Weak panel. Brazile was kind of humorous.
Its faster than dail-up.
