Texas Christian Group Burns 22 Pairs of Air Jordan's in Christ's Name
Youtube ^ | 1-8-2012

Posted on 01/08/2012 2:26:35 PM PST by My Favorite Headache

A group of "Christ Warriors" in Texas just outside of Dallas torched over 22 pairs of Air Jordan's (a lot of them the very ones people were rioting over during Christmas) on Friday night.

The video is just making the rounds today on the net but they intend on making bigger statements shortly..that this was just the start.

They are saying shoes and items like these are basically what is wrong with society in general and that at the end of the day they aren't worth anything without Christ in your life and at the gates of Heaven. Arguments have been made that they should have donated to homeless people...fact is...the group goes into the ghettos and bad areas of Dallas and help hands on and that the shoes would actually get some of them killed.

“This is a good protest to bring attention to the problem of insane bee hive materialism.”

I agree. I am not particularly religious, but their expression of disdain for crass and totally pointless materialism is well taken. The ironic thing is that the Occupy types should, in theory, be in agreement, but instead, because of who the protesters are, they will reflexively condemn the protest.

This is silly. The shoes and other material items are the problem. It is people’s greed for the items that is the problem and the greed is there because of how they have been brain washed in today’s society.

The line in comment #30 "The shoes and other material items are the problem." should read "The shoes and other material items are NOT the problem.

This is what gives Christians a bad name.

Sound like birds of a feather with Sharia-advocated Muslims.

An extremist is an extremist.

So that’s where the saying ‘In the black’ came from.

Price for a pair of Air Jordan’s: $200. Price of an excellent video with plenty of free exposure: $3200. Repenting from the excess of Air Jordan shoes produced by children in sweatshops for about $5.00 a pair; Priceless.

Those shoes could have gone to people who are poor.

good point.

What if everyone had a begging bowl and there were no millionairs and billionairs to put anything into it.

Yep. Back when a company’s books were kept in a real ledger. Negative $ was red ink, Positive was black ink. Funny how some of those expressions from long ago are still used, tho now it’s all ‘online.’ A century from now someone will ask ‘what’s online?’

Can you imagine, in the case of retailers, operating at a loss for 11 months out of the year? Of course they promote Christmas shopping! You’ll notice how many businesses cling to the hope of good Christmas sales and, if not achieved, announce their closing soon after.

It’s not as though the color black is associated with good things.

That’s why I’ve been wondering why they’d use the word.

What is the problem with these shoes? Why might they get you killed?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

They are a collectors edition. Only so many made. They are the kind kids will beat up other kids at school for. Kids will rob other kids for them. Have you heard of kids robing other kids for expensive jackets or even their bikes? Same stupid thing. They cost anywhere from about $200. a pair. I am glad they burned the things. No one is worth dying or getting beat up over.

I am not against retail mind you it is just it comes out at Christmas and takes away from Christ. That I can’t stand. Then kids kill each other for what? For this? Please.

It was just an accounting device in days of yore. Guess the red was a warning, and easily discernible when looking over the ledger.

Ain’t there something in the bible about waste?

In other semi-Basketball related news, Dennis Rodman is starting a topless basketball league. He’s scouting skin bars for players. The man is a genius.
