59.7% of those answering this poll, voted for Newt. Perry and Santorum each got about 20% - adds up to 100% of those FReepers answering the poll not of ALL FReepers just of those who participated.

Revisit # 548 again.

The 2s and 3s following screen names mean the FReeper voted for Perry or Santorum not that they voted 2 or 3 times.

See “vote key” at 548.

For all his faults, Newt is the only republican in the field with the all important "Gravitas". Santorum looks like an Ivy League college preppy from the 1960's and Romney looks like a used car salesman. Newt comes across as a serious world leader, someone with a grasp on issues that nobody else in the field has.

I like Santorum, but there is nothing about him that excites me. Perry comes in a distant second in the Gravitas department. If Perry could speak off the cuff with the authority that Gingrich has, then he'd be leading the pack right now. But Perry seems to have withered and died on the vine. We will see how South Carolina pans out, but I think ultimately it is going to be a two man race between Gingrich and Romney.

I’m looking at each candidate and their platform objectively. Point out to me specifically where I’m wrong, and I’ll be happy to recant.

I am not surprised by the results. Many people see Newt as savvy and a very capable competitor to Obama. Most do not agree with his conduct since the 1994 elections but Newt gets it and can be contained to our needs. I am in that crowd as well.

Interesting results. I know that before these debates we would never have trusted Newt. I still don’t, but I can coalesce around him to beat mitt if we have to.

Newt will be unpredictable as president. We could end up really regretting pushing him. I believe that Santorum and perry would be better presidents. But I do not think perry can handle a general election. He might make the idiot crackhead look smart because perry just is not articulate. Btdt.

But Freepers mostly want newt. I wonder why. Presidentin’ doesn’t involve a lot of debates. Newt gets it, but isn’t faithful to principle or anything else.

But we aren’t choosing a dessert. We don’t need “excitement” in our president. I’d like to enjoy my weekends without the fear of what crazy selfish stunt our president newt will be up to on Monday.

You're right, xzins, they all had to agree with Gingrich on the Iran question, because they know he's the most knowledgeable and deepest thinker in all matters, particularly foreign policy, which is the major role of Commander-in-Chief. It's not “job creator”, because government does not create jobs, except in democrat regimes wherein government grows.

My hopes and prayers remain with Newt to first stop Romney and then kick the Marxist out of the White House back to Chicago where he belongs.

Just seeing this now, so I’m very late.

Perry, without a doubt.
