Geraldo: You Shouldn't Become Parent Unless Licensed By Government

Geraldo: You Shouldn't Become Parent Unless Licensed By Government By Jack Coleman Created 01/09/2012 - 7:55pm

Think your government has more than enough on its hands? Geraldo Rivera wants it to do so much more.

On his new WABC radio show Friday, Rivera cited an incident that day involving a Brooklyn mother suspected of killing her 3-year-old daughter, saying this (audio clips after page break) --

I swear to God, you talk about sickos, you talk about sickos. You should need to have a license to have a child. You should be vetted. I think I can't stand these stories. I've covered so many of these toddler-torture murders. It's just something that is unbelievable.

Minutes later, Rivera enthused over the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, followed by his criticism of the agency as destined to become a haven for patronage hacks (audio) --

You know, I like the idea of consumer protection, this new agency, for example, but I can just see what's going to happen. You're going to have all the secretaries that campaigned for Obama in this administration or Bush in the last administration or Romney or Obama or whoever it's going to be going forward, they're all going to get those coveted jobs, they're going to be assistant secretary to the secretary of the deputy of the this and that, and it's all going to be our tax money. It used to be, when I was a younger man, I used to think, you know, you know, let's throw money at this problem, let's fix this problem. And it's just when see the way government operates, government can do no right, almost.

Still like the idea of this new agency? How about licensing parents while we're at it?

Later on Friday, Rivera appeared on "The O'Reilly Factor" and got into an argument with Bill O'Reilly over Casey Anthony, as described by Brian Maloney at the Radio Equalizer (h/t for YouTube audio clip) --

Within a period of less than 12 hours the King of All Media Hackery jumped on Bill O'Reilly for being much too critical of (insert your own descriptive language here) Casey Anthony, but then told radio listeners he advocates government licensing and "vetting" of all prospective parents in America.

In Geraldo Bizarro World, it's give Casey the benefit of the doubt while real mothers and fathers are guilty until proven innocent. Could anything be nuttier?

Rivera passing himself off as a conservative comes to mind.

Oh, I’m sure he doesn’t mean Hispanic and African-American people. That would be racist and/or bigoted. Only non-Hispanic, non-biracial — and non-gay people would have to get licensed to make babies!

I believe he’ll settle for bi-annual in-home government investigation of parents — all parents — except maybe the non-white and the gay, unless we can come up with a good double standard for them, ya know, just to be sure they’re not disproportionately affected...

The NAZIs were hardcore advocates of regulated breeding. Their policies were strongly influenced by communists and bigots such as Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood.

Only a filthy skinhead would advocate for such racist ideas.

Leaving me to wonder: Does the universe of welfare reflect the 80/20 rule that's common in business?

Do 20% of the welfare cases result in 80% of the costs?

Would focussing on these "heavy users" be the way to reform welfare?

I think he has earned himself the appellation “The” in front of his name just as Donald Trump has as in “The Donald”. Mr. Rievera is now officially “The Geraldo”.

Brandis Nwegbo stabbed her 3-year-old daughter, Cathryn, to death because she believed the child was possessed by demons. (WABC) — Homicide detectives say it appears a young girl was stabbed to death at the hands of her mother inside an apartment in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.

The two-and-a-half year-old girl, who was found bleeding in the arms of her rambling, incoherent mother, had been stabbed in the jaw and head inside a Putnam Avenue apartment just after 4:00 Friday morning.

Investigators said she may been choked as well. There were strangulation marks around her neck, they said.

Cathryn Nwegbo was rushed to Woodhull Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the child’s troubled mother, 29 year old Brandis Nwegbo, blamed the death on demons and God not being there to help.

All studies seem to confirm that and it seems to follow the family. A teenage mother seems to produce more teenage mothers. Druggies produce more druggies. Look at that pig in California that claims he is a baby. He needs to be taken down to the local zoo and put to work feeding the big cats.

All studies seem to confirm that and it seems to follow the family.

I suspect we're onto something here. Something like 80% of the costs and 80% of the problems with welfare probably trace to 20% of the recipients. And the costs and problems probably flow from generation to generation.

Some creative thinking that addressed this particular defined group would doubtless have a huge and positive impact on the problem.

Good luck getting anybody in government to think this way, though.
