Club for Growth Blasts Gingrich for Bain Attacks
National Review Online ^ | January 9, 2012 | Patrick Brennan

Posted on 01/09/2012 10:01:52 PM PST by Saundra Duffy

In a press release this afternoon, Club for Growth criticized Newt Gingrich for his attacks on Mitt Romney’s career at Bain Capital, calling them unbecoming a “Reagan Conservative.” Club for Growth’s statement:

Yesterday, Gingrich said “Those of us who believe in free markets and those of us who believe that in fact the whole goal of investment is entrepreneurship and job creation…we find it pretty hard to justify rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company, leaving behind 1,700 families without a job.” Gingrich’s attack was echoed that same day that by the Democratic National Committee, which also attacked Romney for his job creation record at Bain Capital.

“Newt Gingrich’s attacks on Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital are disgusting,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “There are a number of issues for Mitt Romney’s Republican opponents to attack him for, but attacking him for making investments in companies to create a profit for his investors is just wrong. Because of the efforts of Bain Capital, major companies like Staples, Domino’s Pizza, and the Sports Authority now employ thousands of people and have created billions in wealth in the private economy. Attacking Governor Romney for participating in free-market capitalism is just beyond the pale for any purported ‘Reagan Conservative.’ Newt Gingrich should stop his attacks on free markets and apologize to Governor Romney for them.”

Some would like to see Romney attack the federal government the way he economized companies during his time with Bain Capital.

Gingrich is engaging in class warfare, side-by-side with the democrats.

That’s how it appears. A worthy objective, if Newt can pull it off.

When I saw this commercial I thought it was put out by the DNC and the Occupy Crowd.

Where in the h@ll does Newt think venture capital comes from for small business and entrepreneurs these days?

Newt’s venom is what is going to ruin our Country - what a small man with a big ego can do to defeat an opponent and assure 4 more years of Obama.

Newt has just shown his cards as being the perpetual power hungry beltway insider. Aiding and abetting class warfare-and he is on the Socialist’s side!!!!

“newt is looking for payback for what happened in iowa. it’s personal.”

Probably... but he may be bringing himself down as well. And that’s too bad because I like Newt.

By making Romney look good, he’s taking Romney down? It’s Gingrich who is going down.

Actually I think Gingrich would make a great VP candidate; he would destroy Biden!! Although Biden doesn’t need much help; he’s destroying himself.

I just saw the trailer on Hannity tonight and actually laughed out loud. Talk about overkill, along with the dark, eerie images and creepy music. Are they kidding?

Yep so far in this primary season both Gingrich has from time to time shown the same instincts that led him to sit on that couch with Pelosi. That is part of the reason he is a non-starter.

I don’t think so.

Gingrich has watched Romney’s people methodically remove every single potential opponent since Sarah Palin, one by one, by using the communist tactics of Saul Alinsky.

Finally. At this 11th hour, someone in his campaign seems to have connected the dots for him. Now, with his huge new financial donation - he’s strong, and primed to take the fight to the dishonest, unprincipled Romney.

It just could work.

People respond to strong stands.

No Republican has shown one, in a long long time.

Watch how it’s done Republicans.

If Newt gets traction with this, then use it against the left, for a change.

No more compromising. Push back!

Here’s how I see it.

Newt had great success by basically taking the attitude that he was going to make his points and not worry about traditional tactics. He - naively - believed he could do it on ideas alone.

Then Myth and PuPaul poured $5 million dollars worth of lies into Iowa and it damaged him badly....and woke him up.

So now, it’s ends justifying means. And like you I blame him not one whit. Let Newt do what viscerally feels right to Newt. If that’s retribution and letting the chips fall where they may to take down scumbag Romney, so be it.

I was with him when he was at 3% in the polls and I’ll be with him until he hangs it up. Besides which his strategy may have the beneficial side effect of giving Charles Krauthammer a coronary.

GO NEWT!!

Hank
