In an interview today on CNN’s John King, USA, chairman of the Tea Party Express Amy Kremer spoke with CNN anchor and chief national correspondent John King about the Tea Party’s influence in the 2012 GOP presidential race. "Well, I will tell you that Tea Party Express, we will be endorsing by South Carolina. And I believe that South Carolina is going to be a game-changer and going into Florida."

KREMER: Well, I mean I am seeing a shift toward Perry and Gingrich. I mean it's almost like the Perry campaign and the Gingrich campaign have put out an e-mail that said you need to lobby Tea Party Express, because I've been inundated since last week with messages from supporters, not the campaign, but from supporters.

South Carolina is a bell weather southern state. If Perry has any chance, it will be in South Carolina. He has been my first choice. However, he stepped into it way behind the learning curve. It like learning how to race your car on a new circuit. So far he hasn’t been able to get traction as good of a patriot as he is.

Great, the Tea Party has decided to back the two candidates who have picked up the Red Flag in this Bain Capital controversy. I have lived long enough to see Capitalism attacked in a GOP primary, not by the media, by its own candidates. Now the Tea Party, you know the ones for small government as long as you cut the other guys handout crowd, are going to endorse those who attacked the free market, just great.

I don’t completely trust Newt either, but, will take him over obama any day of the week. Newt has done some things politically that I have a very hard time with - such as sitting on the couch with Princess Pelosi, endorsing a health care mandate, etc. His record is 50/50, so, yeah, I don’t trust him, and he seems so angry.

Can we afford another old, white guy to go against obama? I’m not an ageist by any means, but, come on - Bob Dole, John McCain and Newt Gingrich? Like it or not, most people want their president to be good looking and vibrant. Ronald Reagan was the exception. He was good looking, but, somewhat older.

The Tea Party must act soon or the demographic game will be over. Ann Coulter thinks it will be over for Republicans at the Presidential level by 2016 and I suspect she is right. We conservatives like to think it’s all about ideas, but demographics play a huge role. We may have one more chance to stop the tide of immigration from forever turning the country against us. We must act now.

I understand that the Tea Party movement is upset that Nikki Haley, who won as governor thanks to Tea Party support, has endorsed Romney. Tea Party needs to endorse Gingrich or Santorum TODAY! Also, Perry needs to go home and endorse one of these guys. And Bachmann... what’s up with her? Time for her to endorse a conservative. We can’t let Romney and Paul gain any more momentum.

The Tea Party movement has no leaders, that's its true charm. Its origins go way, way back to a time when none of those purporting to be movement leaders had ever heard of it.

Whether or not I agree or disagree with this person's "endorsement" I half-way resent anyone trying to play band leader for one of the very few truly spontaneous political movements in American history. It dilutes things down to the personal, and though cited influences nothing.

I don’t know which candidate is best on immigration, I really don’t. Rick Perry broke my heart with his soft stance. Bachmann may have been good but she is out. Gingrich not good. I am not sure about Paul - he is more for sending a message than a serious candidate. And Coulter seems to think Romney is decent on it, but I am not sure why. All we can do is raise Hades over the issue and make sure it’s addressed in convention. If we don’t speak up, I’m afraid it’s over. How long can we quiver being called names like bigot? They are gonna call us that anyway

I have lived long enough to see Capitalism attacked in a GOP primary, not by the media, by its own candidates.

I know. This is so disappointing.

It would have been an opportunity for Newt or Perry to simply say...

"Running a business sometimes requires letting people go. You do this to save the jobs that remain, it is the most compassionate choice to make. The actions of equity firms generally function to save jobs that would have been lost anyway. They buy distressed firms, and they provide capital to others that cannot get banks to cooperate. The system functions better with them than without them."

"Now let's get on to the things that are really wrong with Mitt Romney, because his experience at Bain Capital isn't one of them."

This is very disconcerting to me. I cannot see Sarah Palin or Herman Cain going down the road that Newt and Perry have chosen to go down here.

Now, with the eruption of this issue, would be a good time for them to "un-suspend" their campaign for President. A window has opened.

It seems individual politicians have become wary of making endorsements. I really don’t blame them because if the endorsement doesn’t work out, the person gets it thrown repeatedly back in their face in the future....or maybe their is nobody they agree with enough to go out on a limb and endorse.

True believer forever, I am in a hurry this am to get out the door. Wrote several comments on Tea Party Express Wall last night (Facebook) and sent this off a few mins ago. Do hope other Newt supporters get busy and fire off an email. It only takes a minute and may make a huge difference. My letter is short and not as inclusive of info I wanted to bring to Kremer's attention but..I will write MORE later. Everyone should bombard them with pro Newt emails..(sorry Santorum or Perry folks) Letter begins Jim Robinson of Free Republic took a straw poll on the GOP candidates. Free Republic is a conservative forum which consists of very informed "freepers." Thought I would send you the results of the poll. Final results of the Free Republic 1/9/2012 non-Romney Conservative Straw Poll (see post 548). Jim Robinson Posted on Monday, January 09, 2012 1:15:29 PM by Jim Robinson Edited on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 5:33:58 AM by Jim Robinson. Final results of the Free Republic 1/9/2012 non-Romney Conservative Straw Poll (see post 548) Newt 225 59.7% Perry 77 20.4% Santorum 75 19.9% Urge you to support Newt. Accomplishments as speaker include the first balanced budget ammendment since 1969; Contract With America; GOP Revolution; Bucked Bush 41 on tax hikes and created millions of jobs. These perceptions you cite about Governor Rick Perry are based upon misinformation that has been refuted by many on the Free Republic. That you continue to spout them is evidence of a persistent bigotry that seems to have a life of its own. I cannot fathom why that bigotry continues to persist. It is one of the mysteries that baffles me about this political season.
