I am a reluctant one. My number one priority is getting rid of Obama, and don't see any of the other candidates as having a realistic chance of winning the general election. I wish that were not the case, but to paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, you campaign with the candidates you have...

What leads you to label Romney most electable?

Romney's major virtue has been “he can win”...

I keep hearing that, but I do not see the logic.

Well I’m so glad Politico cleared that up. I had not realized that I had embraced Romney. I still thought I wanted to vote for Newt...

HAH!!! Me too.

Should Romney win the nomination, I will change my registration from R to I.

I would still vote against Obama (which means, I guess, for Romney) but it will be the first election I will be voting as an outsider...neither one will be my candidate. Odd feeling.

I am a conservative and I support Romney. Nothing unusual about this. I also support Santorum and would support Newt, even though I don’t like his baggage...

I am amazed.

How can you listen to their campaigns for the past months and conclude the most noteworthy takeaway was 'Newt's baggage?'

Your lecture would possibly have some legitimacy if you even appeared to know what you are talking about.

Without knowing the polling methodology, you're guessing as to validity of sample size...statistics and polling are not equivalent.

You also fail to address the second part of the statement...that since they do not state that these are likely voters, the poll is not predictive of actual results...that these are even registered voters, much less likely voters. It's a scam the LSM pulls every four years.

Time to face facts, enough "conservative" voters have swallowed Romney's snake oil for "his turn" at the nomination...

Really? The first vote is today.

Of course, if you're talking about that poll, that wasn't a poll of voters.

That’s odd because I don’t know a single conservative, or even a moderate that even thinks about voting for Romney. The only people that say they like him are registered Democrats.

I see and talk to a lot of people on a daily basis.

These days, I feel completely "outside" the Republican party. Their (GOP) actions (and that of some news outlets) show plain as day an "establishment" and to me, it's meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

Oh yes. Should Romney get the nomination I will change my voter registration to 'I'.

I have had enough of it. I will not pull the lever for Romeny...

I will... but he won't be 'my' candidate, the GOP won't be 'my' party.

I will however work hard for house-critters to try and get more TEA Party elected.

I simply cannot pin my hopes on this Government being "fixed" when all we are offered is socialism and socialism-lite. It will be up to the House of Representatives to help fix the mess this country is in fiscally not to mention regulatory.

Yes, I agree that's where our focus need be.

The GOP can pound sand...

Yes indeed.

And I have noticed that more and more people here are beginning to accept that Romney is going to be the nominee.

I think you are wishing that were the case, wishing that we were conditioned for defeat. I can't stand Romney, and absolutely do not "accept" that he'll be the nominee.

Really? Then why isn’t he getting 59% of the vote!

The choices are:

Obama with an antagonistic, resistant Republican congress.

Romney with a compliant, go along with the party leader, Republican congress.

Which is better?

“Why do I continually feel that the MSM (with the assistance of establishment Republicans) is trying to stampede us into a particular nominee? Bob Dole John McCain Mitt Romney (John McCain’s choice)”

Because you’re right.

I have many family and friends who will NEVER cast a vote for Romney. I have a very politically conservative family. During our big New Year's eve party all agreed we could never vote for Romney.

Anyone who cherishes our beloved Constitution should NEVER vote for the vile and destructive Mitt.

People need to remember that Mitt was the force behind ALL the vicious attacks on Conservatives. Conservatives should never reward the evil Mitt for such betrayal. Mitt lusts for power for power's sake.

I’m Pis...d at Rush. He’s ripping our conservatives and pimping Romney. Claiming it’s wrong to attack Romney for being a “capitalist”. Rush has jumped the shark on this one.

I don’t see how this poll is necessarily wrong. Outside of rabid rightwingism (us Freepers, et al), the rest of Conservativism is probably resigned to the idea that Romney will be the nominee. They find him preferable to Obama. Whats the surprise.

You’re not the only one. I’ve been sitting here with my jaw on the floor listening to him today. I’m stunned, actually.

The whole point is that Romney uses Bain to prop himself up as a genius businessman, but Bain failed...Romney is a failed businessman trying to convince people he’s the man for the job to “fix the economy.” It’s not about capitalism, geesh!

Yes, and those same people vow in comment after comment to neither vote nor support Romney even if he is the nominee.

It's not Politico, it's Gallup. Gallup did the poll; it's not even PPP which people attack for its DNC connections.

It was Politico which used the term "embrace," not Gallup.

Answering that someone/something is acceptable is a far cry from embracing it.
