CONCORD, N.H. Jesse Benton, national campaign chairman for the Ron Paul campaign, released the following statement today in regards to the media incident in Manchester, NH this morning:
Dr. Paul has been committed to meeting one on one with New Hampshire voters, and has aggressively campaigned at town halls, house parties, and meet and greets since early last spring.
This morning, he attempted to hold an event at Moe Joes Diner in Manchester, to speak with patrons and supporters in the last push before the New Hampshire primary. Unfortunately, Dr. Paul and his family were forced to leave early after over 120 members of the press created a mob-like atmosphere that was deemed to be unsafe for the candidate, Moe Joes customers, and reporters themselves.
The campaign had planned to cover our normal degree of media interest, which is always ample. However, a significant increase in the press corps, largely driven by an influx of foreign journalists, exceeded all expectations.
Mrs. Paul herself, attempting to campaign alongside her husband, was shoved aside by one reporter and told to get out of the way.
While we are very welcoming of media coverage and grateful for the interest in Dr. Paul and his campaign, basic safety simply must come first. On behalf of Dr. Paul and his campaign team, I would like to apologize to customers at Moe Joes who may have been distressed by this incident, and extend our gratitude and apologies to the owners, who were kind enough to have us.
We ask the press, at all upcoming events over the next day and a half, to be respectful of both Dr. Paul and of New Hampshire voters, who are entitled to examine their candidates in a safe and responsible atmosphere.
Seems the media mobbed him this morning.
For the record, I am NOT a Ron Paul suppoerter.
I would rather Wrong Paul get out of the way.
Like Paul or not, this is disgusting behavior by the MSM, yet it is not a surprise.
I saw this on the news yesterday. Unless, of course, they did it again today.
As a supporter of Dr. Paul, I would like to thank you for finding this and putting it up.
—Like Paul or not, this is disgusting behavior by the MSM... —
Didn’t they run a princess off the road a few years ago?
Sick SOBS.
I am not a Paul supporter either.
Dr. Paul has been committed”
That’s as far as I read. 8^)
“Mrs. Paul herself, attempting to campaign alongside her husband, was shoved aside by one reporter and told to get out of the way.
This is dispicable. Frenzy. I wouldn’t want my candidate treated like this no matter what his/her ideas were. I wouldn’t want my dog treated like this. He’s a United States Congressman duly elected. His son is a United States Senator duly elected. I have had it. As Governor Perry says, I’m “Fed Up.” The MainStreamMob controls everything.
BUMP!
Mrs. Paul told the MSM what we have been saying for decades: get out of the way.
When the Media, foreign or domestic, becomes part of the news, then the Media is guilty of manipulating the news.
The ONLY reason the media pays any attention to this loon, is that they think it hurts the GOP objective of nominating our best candidate by splitting the vote. Reminds me of this media mob from the '08 campaign ....
Mike Huckabee's huge ego is stoked by a willing phalanx of MSM seeking to take a <5%er and create havoc in the GOP primary. Think Operation Chaos. It gave us McQueeg.
I am an active anti Ron Paul guy, but I’ll stand in support of him not being mobbed by the press...if this report is accurate.
The MSM is despicable, beginning with its treatment of Palin and continuing with horrible Debate moderation.
They are our enemies.
The media is using him. Once they are done using him, they will write him off. They don’t agree with his ideas; he must realize that. They are laughing at him while celebrating that he is hurting the others (just not their guy Mitt)
You are correct the MSM are our enemies and should be treated as such.
I say its a taste of the Doctors own medicine. It was his supporters that mobbed a Newt rally and had it shut down.
Good for the goose in my opinion.
ROFL, if only.
