CONCORD, N.H. Jesse Benton, national campaign chairman for the Ron Paul campaign, released the following statement today in regards to the media incident in Manchester, NH this morning:
Dr. Paul has been committed to meeting one on one with New Hampshire voters, and has aggressively campaigned at town halls, house parties, and meet and greets since early last spring.
This morning, he attempted to hold an event at Moe Joes Diner in Manchester, to speak with patrons and supporters in the last push before the New Hampshire primary. Unfortunately, Dr. Paul and his family were forced to leave early after over 120 members of the press created a mob-like atmosphere that was deemed to be unsafe for the candidate, Moe Joes customers, and reporters themselves.
The campaign had planned to cover our normal degree of media interest, which is always ample. However, a significant increase in the press corps, largely driven by an influx of foreign journalists, exceeded all expectations.
Mrs. Paul herself, attempting to campaign alongside her husband, was shoved aside by one reporter and told to get out of the way.
While we are very welcoming of media coverage and grateful for the interest in Dr. Paul and his campaign, basic safety simply must come first. On behalf of Dr. Paul and his campaign team, I would like to apologize to customers at Moe Joes who may have been distressed by this incident, and extend our gratitude and apologies to the owners, who were kind enough to have us.
We ask the press, at all upcoming events over the next day and a half, to be respectful of both Dr. Paul and of New Hampshire voters, who are entitled to examine their candidates in a safe and responsible atmosphere.
I agree with you. I don’t won’t to see anyone being hurt but Paul and his out of control supporters (some are dems keeping him alive) have caused this. Each side is using one another though when the left wing media is done with Paul, they will crush him.
“I say its a taste of the Doctors own medicine. It was his supporters that mobbed a Newt rally and had it shut down.”
It did seem a fitting kind of karma for the little sob, didn’t it?

Welcome to Free Republic! Glad to have you here showing the courage of your convictions! Word of advice: develop a thick skin quickly, as all of us mean well, but often express ourselves in, shall we say, a simple, short-hand method.

Rep. Dr. Ron Paul is the only Candidate now running who:
1.) Has a cohesive platform that will cut BASELINE Federal spending.
2.) Insists that all of the planks in his platform are consistent with the US Constitution.
3.) Accepts the fact that the USA can no longer financially afford to be the World’s policeman.
4.) Fully understands how to dismantle the Federal medical “entitlements” of Medicare, Medicaid, and the illegal Obama”care.”
These positions set Dr. Paul apart from the rest of the Candidates who stubbornly cling to the time-honored traditions of The Bipartisan Cave-In by the RINO Political Party. (Democrats NEVER cave-in, but they still call it Bipartisan.)
I enjoy reading about the furor caused by Ron Paul rocking the boat. Paul offers a clear break to the RINO Party, and thus has triggered the fear emotion of “fight or flight” among many faithful RINOs.
Four years from now, Senator Rand Paul will probably run for POTUS. Watch closely this year, and compare what you see to what Rand will be saying 3 years from now.
As usual, the “most electable” RINO will be chosen as the Party Nominee, a failed and time tested method of “playing not to lose,” just like in football.
Nonetheless, Rep. Paul has defined a platform that the RINO Party must take some planks from to avoid going the way of the Whig Political Party.
I salute the courage of your convictions, and enjoy FREE REPUBLIC
Guess he knows how the Santorums feel. Or Newt. Or Michele Bachmann. All of whom have been mobbed by his supporters.
Because I could not stand the idea of going to Massachusetts, the land of barney frank, ted kennedy and mitt romney.
The MSM is despicable, beginning with its treatment of Palin and continuing with horrible Debate moderation.
They are our enemies.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I do not support Ron Paul, but I salute him as his last campaign approaches its end. Since he would turn 80 during a first term as president, he is not a viable candidate. Time has passed him by, but he fought the good fight.
It will be interesting to see if he can influence things in a positive way going forward, but that is problematic given his suicidal foreign policy and his pandering to conspiracy theorists, which has distracted from his fiscal responsibility message.
I am far from a Ron Paul supporter, but if he is the only thing standing in the way of another Obama term, he has my vote.
It is I who should thank you! I took my reply to you and turned it into a new thread: “RON PAUL Changes the Republican Party, or Not?” Thanks!
Enjoy your short stay since your support for that nut Paul will earn you a quick shove out the door eventually.....
Do you like kitties?
Never threaten me.
Exactly who do you think YOU are, threatening folks who don’t toe YOUR party line? Get a grip, newbie.
I’m not threatening anyone. You will get yourself zotted by preaching for your cult leader.......
While he has many good ideas the idiocy far outweighs the sane. Ron Paul is a liberal through and through. He just tags himself with the libertarian/republican/conservative titles for convenience.
Sounds suspiciously like a threat to me, noob. Not your place to make such threats.
1. Who are you calling a noob? Six years is not a newbie.
2. I’m not a mod.I have no say on who gets the boot. If make a remark about someone’s silly devotion to a kook like Ron Paul and they can’t take it, too bad.
3. Mind your own business....
1. Tell me that when you’ve got 14 years here, noob.
2. Only a dumb noob makes self-righteous comments like yours because only dumb noobs haven’t learned basic politeness and RESPECTFUL disagreement.
3. Encouraging common politeness should be EVERYONE’S job here. So calling you out on your crude, dumb comments is not only my sworn duty, but also my great pleasure.
And don't ever!
