French Musicians to Compose Obama’s 2012 Anthem
le Figaro in English ^ | January 10 2012 | Brenna M. T. Daldorph

Posted on 01/10/2012 8:39:12 PM PST by Cincinna

Two young French songsters from Bordeaux have been chosen to write the official song of the 2012 Obama campaign for reelection.

The song entitled What More is scarcely finished. Yet beginning in March, it will become the official hymn of the Barack Obama campaign.

Obama chose two young French musicians, Tony Jazz and Mathieu Billon, to create a song that would rejuvenate his image

“It is a song directed at young people,” said Tony Jazz.

The song itself is composed from American soul singer Al Green’s song What More Do You Want From Me integrated with clips of Obama’s speeches.

This is not a story of connections in the right places, it is simply a story of talent. Jazz became a fan of Obama starting with the democratic primaries of 2008. When Obama finally won the election, Jazz decided to create a clip commemorating the event.

The clip made it all the way to the White House and meant that the young musician was able to meet with Charles Rifkin, the US ambassador in France. Shortly after, Tony Jazz was contacted by the Barack Obama campaign.

Hmm, a little Soviet marshall band mixed with post-modern grunge nihilism, a violin playing something reminiscent of the Godfather theme, with car crashes in the background.

Nothing about Obama is genuine or original. Everything is fake. Everything is stolen.

The source lyrics: Al Green’s song What More Do You Want From me...

What More Do You Want From Me lyrics
What more do you want from me?
I’ve just ‘bout given you all of me
More than your eyes can see
After all I’ve done for you
Oh baby, you gave me too, oh

What more do you want from me?
What more do you want from me?
What more do you love about me?
After all you’ve done for me
I love you, yes sirree, oh

I’ve tried to do my best, girl yeah
We can stand the test
Oh and forget all about the rest
Good love is more than true
Oh baby, I just guess for me and you, oh

What more do you want from me?
What more do you want from me?
What more do you love about me?
After all you’ve done for me
I love you, yes sirree, oh

You’ve won, you’ve won my heart baby
Where do, where do we start?
What more do you want from my heart?
After all you’ve done for me, oh baby
I love you, yes sirree, oh

What more do you want from me?
What more do you want from me?
What more do you love about me?
After all you’ve done for me
I love you, yes sirree, oh

Think about it baby
What more?
Think about it baby
What more?
Think about it baby, oh

WT ....heck?!?
French? Writing a song for Barry? Is he surrendering?

Anywho, I thought Barry's 'song' was written yeeeeeears ago. By those chaps, George Roger Waters and David Jon Gilmour.
It was THIS: Comfortably Numb (ObamaDeathCare anyone?).

And yeah, 'those chaps', are better known as 'Roger Waters' and 'David Gilmour', even better known as, Pink Flyod.

Great song pick. Perfect for Barry.
btw, Clapton is my 'guitar god'.
when I 'grow up' I'd like to play 1/3 as good as Slowhand does. (I'm 63, I better hurry ;-))

btw, You do know that when Eric performs this song now he's changed the words. He trashes Cocaine pretty good, hoping 'the kids' get the message.

Romney’s father & grandfather were born in Mexico.... great granddad fled to Mexico with his 11 wives to escape the Utah ban on polygamy. Married #12 in Mexico.
Technically, he is a citizen of Mexico, and if deported, they would have to take him.

Let's call the "anthem" by what it is....a HYMN to the Messiah.

I fully expect the next Olympics to open with its trademark hymn "Ode to Joy, Hope and Change" by Pierre De Beethoven.

Oh, Heck Yeah.
I was in my prime when that Garage Door (or was it a wall?) was painted with that -- and the pic of dog peeing on it was shot :-)

an aside:
The first time I heard Duane Eddy on the radio that was 'finally it' for me, I HAD to learn to play the guitar 'some day'. And living in Chi we'd go to the 'Maxwell St Flea Market' almost every Sunday. I didn't want to leave from the 'Negroes playing that 'cool music' (Blues)' there on the street curb. I had to be dragged away. That was in 1955 & 56 & I was 7 & 8. But man o man, I loved that sound.

*** Yeah, Clapton made quite a career out of covering J.J. Cale’s songs...;-) ***

Well .. yeah Eric covered a lot of other's songs in his 'younger' days(1). But he sure wasn't alone in that. The Beatles for one did it an awful lot too in their 'Beatlemainia days' and even after that. Ringo doing 'Matchbox' is a cover of Carl Perkins(2) Rockabilly version.

But speaking of covering other's songs, look no further than 'The King'. Elvis covered so many songs, I now wonder if any of his early year stuff was written originally for him(3).

(1) Clapton covered those 'old' and other's songs out of respect and tribute to those 'Greats', not to make the cash register go ding. I'd bet he'd think his best moments came when he was able to play with Blues Legends like BB King and Buddy Guy and other Masters of Blues and R&R.
(2) Go to YouTube and search "Carl Perkins and Friends". Then get ready to sit back and enjoy all the great songs. That is, if you can stay seated and don't start dancing :-)
(3) Sam Phillips really screwed up. IIRC he had Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis all under contract at the same time.
