As he fights for the Republican presidential nomination, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will appear with one of the South Carolina’s most prominent Democrats.

Gingrich is scheduled to speak at a homeownership rally on Thursday in front of the State House along with U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, South Carolina’s lone Democratic congressman.

We like Newt in our house, esp. my spouse since Cain dropped out, but this is a bit ridiculous.

This is one of many ‘go to school’ moments Newt has provided to us over the last decade and a half. I graduated over a decade ago.

Newt is brilliant one moment and totally lost in space the next.

I cannot back a man that is this fickle.

Can someone please explain to me how you reach out to Democrats these days? Their leader in the White House being who he is, what person who still calls themselves a Democrat is someone you can make deals with?

Newt, for heaven’s sake...

Why would anyone want to appear with this guy, lending him legitmacy by merely appearing on the same stage with him?

If Newt says nice things about a liberal, then that’s one thing.

For Newt to appear at an event where there’s also a liberal just means, it’s campaign season.

After the Pelosi fiasco, I’d think he would have learned that you don’t make joint appearances with Lefties for any purpose.

For Newt to appear at an event where there’s also a liberal just means it’s campaign season in an open primary state.

There, clarified it.

Newt, the preferred candidate of those polled on this Conservative forum, has made chumps out of those who supported him.

I was never one of them. Come clean freepers - Admit that Anne Coulter was right about Newt, after all, and that Newt - as always - knows what words to say, things to do to appear to be whatever might be necessary to get elected.

How many more “Pelosi Moments” must we endure before folks admit he’s not our Conservative Savior.

It's not Newt's event, he was invited and others were also invited. Some people are so eager to find the slightest thing to pile on to Newt they will use the ACU rating of a ideological opponent (that happens to be appearing on the same stage) to somehow smear Gingrich by osmosis, but when people mention that Gingrich has the highest ACU rating of anyone running, they dismiss the ACU rating system.

Of course these same people are typically for a candidate that has a worse ACU rating so they don't have much choice.

It appears that Republicans are the stupid party after all.

“....people are so eager to find the slightest thing to pile on to Newt they will use the ACU rating of a ideological opponent (that happens to be appearing on the same stage)”

So it was when Nancy Pelosi just happened to appear on the same couch with Newt to tout liberalism.

This is not a “slight” thing for Newt to do.

The pelosi thing was a commercial that Ginrich was part of. This event is something he agreed to appear at. It's not the same thing at all.

Who are you for?

It IS the same thing: Stupid.

“Who are you for?”

Not Gingrich, Not Romney. Other than that, undecided, letting the primaries play out.
