Dolly Parton is back on the big screen, starring alongside Queen Latifah in the Gospel-driven Joyful Noise. But the country music legend insisted that there is more to the movie than just music and a good time.
The film is uplifting and I want people to go away feeling better than they did when they got here, because times are hard right now. Everybody's been feeling a little scared and a little down, and the economy has been bad and people don't know what to think. We just seem to have lost all our morals and principles and values these days, Parton told FOX411s Pop Tarts column at the films Hollywood premiere on Monday night. People are looking for something a little more stable; people are feeling like they need to get closer to God. So (the movie has) got a lot of heart, a lot of soul. It's about community, it's about pulling together and it's about believing in something bigger and better than you."
The iconic country star through the years, from Smoky Mountain young 'un to seasoned diva!
Set in the small, struggling town of Pacashau, Georgia, Joyful Noise which opens in theaters on Friday tells the story of the Divinity Church Choirs quest to lift the communitys spirits by winning the National Joyful Noise Competition. However, the discord between its two leading ladies threatens to destroy that dream.

Oh no, what are we going to do without our “principals!” Maybe we need more superintendents?
Off topic, but we drove through Pigeon Forge and Sevierville three years ago....that woman has MADE those two burgs.
From a woman who had so many face lifts.... She has to shave her chin.....
It’s kind of hard for me to take anyone seriously, spouting about moral decline, who has made a career out of shaking her enormous breastesses all over the silver screen and stage.
Makes me think about that movie see made with Burt Reynolds.
Glad she got that off her chest.
say what you will, she is correct, there are no morals left in this nation.
Well, she did say the film is ‘uplifting’....
LOL You genius you.
Or more Journalism degrees.
Well, if I were going to lose my morals, I guess I’d wanta lose ‘em with Dolly!
OK, but with a view of your chest and your co-”star”, Queen Lat, being a lezbot, tell us what you’re going to do about it...
She’s another who purposely deformed her face. She looks like a frog now.
A wise-man once said.. Woman who stands on tolit is high on pot!
Does Dolly Parton sleep on her back?
She’s not doing the new “Dallas” series this summer but the rest of the major cast members are at least in the pilot. Read that she wants to do comedy.
I can just imagine the pitch meeting; 'It's "Sister Act" meets "Barbershop" meets "Coal Miner's Daughter"'.
She was such a pretty woman and to see her now is horrifying. I saw the coming attraction of her movie about a week ago - I couldn’t even look at the screen.
Happily, she is still a fine singer and songwriter.
Why are Dolly’s feet so small? Answer: nothing grows in the shade. Bwahahahhahha!
Didn’t dolly do “whatever” she wanted for years, while her husband lived a quiet life alone? So wealth and fame and sex trump morals.
To me they all look like the Joker.
Some of them I can’t even recognize anymore.

***who has made a career out of shaking her enormous breastesses all over the silver screen and stage.***
She got her start as a singer on the old Porter Wagner show. She took over when Norma Jean quit. She never shook them then, and it was only when Hollywood saw her that her breast size became an issue.
We wanted to take a church trip to the movies to see “Courageous”. My husband and I went first to preview it and make sure that it was appropriate for families to bring young children. We got there just as the movie was starting and missed the previews. We loved the movie and a week later took 77 people from church including kids with us to see it. We got there early and had to sit through the previews. I was absolutely horrified. This movie was one of the previews and I couldn’t even watch. I sat with my face in my hands trying not to cry. I hadn’t even considered what we would be exposed to in the previews. According the the previews of this movie it looks like a bunch of stereotypes of what Hollywood thinks churches and Christians are. It didn’t seem uplifting at all. It seemed inflammatory.
What “values” should we attribute to posing on the cover of Playboy in a bunny outfit?

Right you are, Dolly! It is called OMAMANATION.
Before Porter, she was on local TV in Knoxville. Do a search on "Cas Walker."

Her open marriage was a rumor...

Dolly went too Hollywood making films with Jane Fonda. She should have known better.
Oh man, your mention of Cas Walker gave me a flashback to the ‘70s. I can vaguely remember seeing Cas Walker ads on TV.
I can’t believe it, he’s got a wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cas_Walker
When I get home I’m definitely going to have to watch some Cas Walker TV commercials on YouTube.
Listen to her record, “Heartsongs”. She sings some of her favorite old timey songs. She also tells all about the Cas Walker days and sings the commercial on that album too.
I don’t care about her bra size; she has a joyful, infectious personality which I enjoy hearing and watching. I hope she doesn’t look too grotesque in this movie because I hope to see it. She is a talented musician and song writer.
BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS - wasn’t she in that movie? Well, just to make money.
I doubt that Dolly is a paragon of virtue, but I do love to hear her sing and talk.
... reports the lead actress from “the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”
Gimme a break...
Dolly DOES make a couple of good points.
I was there back in 2006! It’s beautiful and the people are friendly.
