Personally I think the whole red blue game is played out. 2008 was eons ago in the political sense. Here in Michigan the GOP ran the table in 2010 and the democrats didn’t pick up a single seat above the county level. We took the Governor’s race, Secretary of State, Attorney General, 2 supreme court seats, both houses of the legislature and took the majority of US reps from Michigan with two house wins.
Good idea. But how did you manage to spell Illinois three different ways in one post? ;)
Except North Carolina, thry’re all hard blue or RINO states. No conincidence there.
Anybody understand what’s happening in NC?
Where’s New Hampshire spending their money? A ‘union’ state by any chance?
NC had a Dem controlled legislature for 100 years until last year.
It’s odd New York is not on there...it’s gotta be number 11 or 12...
I want you to know that we have the best politicians money can buy!
I have NO USE for New England...just an unfortunate victim of circumstance, and hope to be out of here ASAP. I encourage all other conservatives that aren't tied to a house or some such to get out before the tax burden gets worse...and it will.
Apparently the politicians that are elected up there are doing you in...
Thank G-d I didn't vote for any of them...RINO/DEMO central...nearly FIFTY THOUSAND went out yesterday to cast a vote for Obama AGAIN in the Dem primary. They bring it on themselves; but they seem to like it.
Go figure.
Every state except Vermont has either a statutory or constitutional requirement for a balanced budget.
-—And it looks like you are getting what you pay for....LOL!
Excepting Arizona — most of these are northeastern states. How many have dimocrat governors?
Wrong, the people who bought them get everything they want. Its a great system unless you’re one of the dreaded private sector working stiffs.
their figures fot CT don’t seem correct. perhaps someone here can correct me if I’m wrong, besides CT managed to fill the gap by raising taxes and employee concessions.
I mean CT spends bad enough, but if you’re wrong this much, what else are you wrong about?
Thanks for the link.
It seems that most of the “requirements” either lack enforcement mechanisms, are ignored, or are too vague to effectively cause budgets to be balanced.
One snippet from the link:
The report adds that “two points can be made with certainty. Most states have formal balanced-budget requirements with some degree of stringency, and state political cultures reinforce the requirements.”
Evidently “some degree of stringency” leaves a lot of wiggle room, since so few states balance their budgets each year.
“I hear it on TV news all the time. Every time a politician claims he balanced x number of budgets some pundit comes along and discounts it because every state is required to balance their budget.”
Ouch, that leads to a dilemma. Between the politician and the TV pundit, which one should you believe?
Trick question!
It’s best to assume BOTH are lying.
California is among the highest in dollar value, but not by % annual state GDP. California’s constant budget shortfall is about $20 billion against a budget of about $85 billion, so about 24% of GDP. They are probably in 11th place.
WOW! Seems as though Chris Christie, New Jersey, is not balancing any budget — just maybe going deeper into debt.
Or is none of this his fault? Surely he won’t blame it on Bush.
I am artistically liberal. In any liberal reality it is as I say when imagined in a sublime aurora of ideological freedom. If you can't find more than one way to spell Illinoisy and have others understand it, you are stupid.
:o) (heh?...Now waddya say?)
Indiana has a balanced budget now. Financially and socially, Indiana is doing great. Right to work might fix our schools too. Then we'd be smart and good looking for new business to settle. We need jobs in IN.
It’s wrong.
