Newt shouldn’t expect any endorsements from Sarah anytime soon.

Why do you say that? "Going rogue" to the Palins means not playing by the elites rules. And the GOP elites have crowned Romney their pick. I should think "going rogue" means outside what the elites want.

Hello??? I didn’t accuse you of being typical OR a romney/rove bot. I have never accused ANYONE of either thing...ever. So please don’t include me in a one size fits all response.

That’s easy for you to say, commenting from the sidelines as you are.

Sarah Palin was quoted as saying that when asked about her husband’s endorsement. I think she was saying just because her husband endorses Newt doesn’t mean she’s in lock-step with him to also provide an endorsement.

I understand that she had said it but I didn’t make any assumptions about what she meant. However I did think it was funny. :-)

I admit it, I really love that gal. Very effectively cuts to the heart of the matter again.

“Gov. Palin is making a valiant effort to stay relevant, but truth is, she had her chance and chickened out.”

Ad-hominem? She’s several million times as relevant as YOU are.

She’s relevant enough that you clicked on the link. But you run for president while people are making death threats to your family: parents, children, even you’re downs syndrome baby. I dare you. Death threats against her & Todd are one thing, they’re adults and can choose to take the risk. Granted, I wanted her to run and wish by some miracle she could still get in and win but God & family should be first I don’t care who you are, what office you’re running for, or whether you’re male or female.

I tease my son that for such a homebody and “mama’s” boy he picked the wrong career but as a young man who puts God & family first he knows exactly WHY he’s serving and who he’s fighting for. She and Todd sought God’s guidance and considered their family (a couple of their children wanted her to run) and made their decision. Honestly, I believe she truly wanted to run and her enthusiasm for this country is infectious. Her ultimate decision, while not the one I was hoping for reflects her servants heart and that as an AMERICAN she has her priorities right.

Because Romney’s weak. He has no base of support of his own, no core values or convictions that we know of, and no backbone on anything. The establishment knows they can pull the strings on him behind the scenes like a puppet and make him do whatever they want. Romney lets them have more power for themselves than any other candidate in the race. Santorum is probably the next weakest personality up there, which is one reason you haven’t seen the establishment come out with the knives for him as much as Newt.

I'm in no contest with her for relevancy, so your statement is a another Latin term, non sequitur. Now you know two of them!

My point: Palin is the one blathering on about the excrement-eating-grin-wearing statist Mitt Romney, when she had a chance to do something about it and become a nominee. She didn't, out of fear. Romney has the media on his side, so he will be the nominee now.

Cindie (if I my call you that), I wanted her to run too and STOMP the statist Romney into the ground! I went to every Palin event I could get to, sent her PAC money, and supported her on FR and other forums. But she just didn't have the courage to carry through.

Death threats can be dealt with. Security perimeters can be established. She didn't have to take her family into the political events. I don't buy that excuse. She just didn't have the courage to stand up to the haters and the media.

I disagree with that. Unless you’ve been in the center of a media storm, you have no idea what it does to children. You don’t “take your family” into the middle of it. They’re dragged into it. Tell me, did little Trig do anything to deserve the hate he received? I’ve been in a storm. For 2 years in the local press (not because of politics). You have NO idea what it’s like.

I agree. Santorum was in the Senate for a number of years and made no waves whatsoever, so I think both the RINO establishment and the Dems see him as weak and a "safe" candidate.

I am assuming that everyone who asks for Romney’s tax returns has also revealed their own financial records, including tax returns??

Of course you may call me that! But I think someone who draws fire like Sarah Palin (and Herman Cain who had the audacity to leave the plantation and be conservative while black), their children are also going to feel the heat. Hers certainly have, even little Piper who is a pistol herself. Thankfully, Trig will probably never understand and yes perimeters can be set up but it still doesn’t guarantee safety. Granted you can get killed being hit by a car while crossing the street (or trampled by a moose as the case may be) but in this case maybe they thought the risk was too great. Remember, it wasn’t just her immediate family but her parents, too. And we don’t know the severity of the threats.

Cain was on his way (with his wife & Dr. Alveda King) to say he was going to stay in the race and fight...he already had secret service protection so the threats against him were obviously quite serious...but on the way there he was told his grandchildren received credible death threats as well. None of them were dragged into the public with him. In fact, except for a brief interview on Greta, they all stayed out of the fray so that’s no guarantee. This would be a very difficult situation to be in, I think. If someone was actually able to make good on such a threat we’d all be saying he should have gotten out as soon as he knew there was a threat.

She may not be relevant to you but she is to me. I like her take on things, her way of seeing things and saying things. She cuts through to the pivot point and shines a bright light on it. Anybody who can do that as well as she does has a key role to play in setting this mess right. Why you don’t want her help passes my understanding. She speaks for me, and she has quite a few more listeners that either you or I. I really think this is more about YOUR struggle for relevance. IMHO. Get with the program. We have a country to save. We have to do this together or it doesn’t get done.

Does the name ‘Terri Schiavo’ ring a bell? Does the stand Santorum took against rescindimg the Texas sodomy laws and the ensuing firestorm ring a bell? How about welfare reform? He made waves alright, and the dems hated his guts for it, but he never backed down.

You are absolutely correct! Capitalism, alone, is jungle law. We can see it working out that way in Russia. Many people (including me years ago) still think that it is capitalism by itself. It has to have a moral base.
