Former first lady Laura Bush wishes there were one more candidate in the Republican presidential primary: Jeb Bush.

Speaking to a sold-out Sarasota audience on Wednesday, Bush said she had hoped that her brother-in-law and former Florida governor would have jumped into the race this year.

Karl Rove’s wet dream for 2016 after Romney loses. That’s probably why Rove wants loser Romney. After all, on the country club RINO for POTUS list, it should be “Jeb’s turn” by 2016.

NO MORE BUSHES!!!

THEY created this mess by Bush II’s miserable performance in office. He and John McCain created the frankenstein called the Obama Administration.

Laura may sound and talk like a classy lady and be a nice person, but whe is a full blown RINO. Maybe Bush II listened to her too much in the second term of office.

Jeb is certainly a lot different than his brother. He would did a great job as governor, and would have been a hell of a lot better as President than W.

He is also smart enough to know that American voters are not ready for another Bush in the White House.

I'm going to take an unpopular position here... and agree with Laura Bush. Jeb Bush would be a stronger candidate against Obama than anyone currently running. Jeb is an experienced, articulate candidate who could unite social and fiscal conservatives. Southern governors traditionally do well in general elections.

The reflexive anti-dynasty reaction that many have is completely understandable, and Jeb would initially poll very poorly. However, voters would eventually distinguish him from his father and brother and judge him on his own record and merits. And, frankly, I think most of them would prefer him to Romney and Obama. I know I would.

“Maybe Bush II listened to her too much in the second term of office.”

I’ve wondered the same. Baseline though, they are elitist, globalist, and culturally Northeastern. There was little of substance offered to conservatives under either Bush administration. We were bamboozled.

Actually, this might have been a good thing. Just as the conservatives are splitting the anti-Romney vote, Jeb would have drawn away much of Romney’s RINO support. Plus, the establishment types would have been in a conundrum trying to decide on whom to support: Jeb or Romney.

He was punked by a district judge. What would he do against a real adversary? Fold is what he would do.

No. Never. None of them. All they have done with success is to dismantle the Reagan revolution and the Reagan coalition.

Romney is a palooka. He is intended to fail and he will. Jeb they would try to get in. There would be no head to head fight between these two. Not for long, anyway.

And I think Earthdweller’s observation about the public perception is correct. I think that is part of the reason Perry has done so poorly, despite a strong record.

Unfortunate but true.

We are a democracy, not an aristocracy. We have millions more qualified people and would do better to look beyond the siblings, wives and children of prior leaders.
Jeb Bush should not be considered for the presidency, nor should Chelsea Clinton, because of the family name.
And the children of Senators and Representatives and Governors shouldn’t be running for a parents’ seat, either.

Me,too!!! Although I did not agree with everything GW did, I am so thankful that he was in the White House when 9/11 occurred and that he never wavered from his belief that radical Islam was a threat to the US. Many times in the past three years, I have wished he was still in the White House! As for Jeb, I actually heard him speak here in little Jacksonville, NC, when his father was running for POTUS. He is very impressive and gracious in person!
