WASHINGTON--GOP White House hopefuls Rick Perry and Ron Paul did not file correctly for the March 20 Illinois presidential primary "beauty contest," leaving them open to a challenge that could knock them off the ballot.
Illinois law requires candidates to file using their home addresses. Paul, a Texas congressman used an address in Virgnia and Perry, the Texas governor used a post office box in Austin, Texas for an address.
Newt Gingrich, Paul, Perry, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Buddy Roemer all filed the required 3,000 signatures. Jon Huntsman skipped Illlinois.

PERFECT
I don’t see how other candidates screwing-up constitutes greasing the wheels for Romney
That's just one of the reasons they keep electing Governors who need to be sent to prison!
Everybody else does!
In Virginia we are convinced that Romney CHEATED in order to keep all others off the ballot. He has no Republican competitor in the primary.
I always found the idea of the candidate being forced to list his home address to be a foolish potential security risk.
I know, I know, people can find that information out easy enough other ways, but why add to the potential problem for people in the public eye?
It’s hard to remember that within living memory of TV viewers, candidates for the major parties were selected by conventions AFTER the primaries. Now the primaries themselves are mostly a formality; the media anoints the winners immediately after the New Hampshire vote—if not before. What happens later is an empty formality.
Except Ron Paul :-(
So you think all the other candidates just happen to make stupid mistakes but Romney is clean as the wind driven snow and never once makes a mistake? These kind of things happen all the time with registrations and usually a candidate is contacted to correct or to clarify, after all, who is judging what is or isn't a correct, legal physical address for someone? It has all been really stupid things like not counting entire counties in Virginia (and thus disqualifying Newt and Perry) because it was discovered one of their many hundreds of petition collectors didn't live in the county they happened to work.
Yet poof, magically, none of these things happen to Romney.
Doesn’t matter. Late March is too late to matter to the nomination. Hell, even late January is too late according to the press. It’s a joke. A sick joke.
Peculiar Paul would screw up since he has run before. Romney is benefiting from that experience. But who really cares about IL??? It’s not as if any R ever has a shot there, especially with their ‘favorite son’ running.
