Democrats staged a pre-emptive rhetorical strike today against Republican legislation that they said seeks to outlaw abortion and might even put some forms of birth control in legal jeopardy.
Del. Bob Marshalls personhood bill, HB1 the first piece of legislation introduced in the House this session says that from the moment of conception, unborn children have all the rights, privileges, and immunities available to other persons, citizens, and residents of this Commonwealth.
In a conference call with reporters this afternoon, Democratic lawmakers pounced on the bill.
Del. Charniele Herring, D-Alexandria, called it reckless and divisive and an abhorrent attack on womens rights.

After this passes, will the unborn have the right to carry firearms and have to pay taxes?
I believe our legislature could find more significant matters to focus on.
“This is the loophole in Roe v. Wade. SCOTUS refused to determine when life begins.
The problem here, is, the law could always change back again whenever the RATS become in the majority. “
Yes it could change back BUT since the RATS are not the majority right now and what those evil people may do in the future isn’t why one does not right a wrong if they can now, this needs to PASS
Del. Charniele Herring, D-Alexandria is a Fascist Pig. That’s of significant concern. Her district probably isn’t going to dump her, but let’s see if she can toss a terminal Leftwingtard Hissie Fit.
“. . . LIFE, Liberty and . . .”
“. . . to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, . . .”
IIRC, drafted by one of Virginia’s favorite sons.
On another thread today posted by Kaslin, the same word was used by abortion proponents in connection with another related matter. My post there was:
To see a live image of a child in the womb challenges the mother to rethink a position that represents the status quo among those who are in power today.
The fact that counterfeit ideas about life and its meaning have been promoted for several decades makes the decision for abortion a difficult one.
Many of us struggle with the questions, "What is my purpose for being?" and "Am I fulfilling the 'purpose' of my being?"
During the 2008 Presidental campaign, seeing little Trig Palin on television, a compelling thought came to mind:
"This child is achieving a purpose which far exceeds anything many of us will work for decades to achieve."
Without saying a word, but just by being, his bright little face rebukes and challenges. Carried by a proud and loving father, a mother, a sister or brother, he confronted in a way that no pious words from a pulpit or podium can confront.
And, that is why they hated the mother.
During the Christmas Holy Days (holidays), there are reminders of another innocent and guileless child whose very birth challenged a King, and whose simple message as an adult could not be tolerated, because it challenged the status quo and power structure of His day. And they hated him. Today, in America, His name simply must be removed from the title of the season.
A 240-pound quarterback Heisman Trophy winner publicly thanks his mother for allowing him life. From that point on, as a highly visibly college and pro player, he publicly acknowledges his Creator, and their attempts at ridicule are shrill and hateful. What he represents is "abhorrent," because he is a living symbol for what may be millions of outstanding athletes, world leaders, healing physicians, discoverers, musicians and artists whose lives were interrupted before they began.
Allow technology to reveal that a child is being created inside the womb, and those who have foisted the idea of a mere bit of flesh being called a "fetus" cannot contain their anger. To them, such knowledge is "abhorrent" because it exposes the fraudulent idea they call "choice."
Kinda like a joke...Prohibition was another womens issue. Smoking was the third.
So, the most abominable of all the issues and women are free to kill. Unbelievable.
Any Virginia Democrat who opens his or her trap about this and against it, should be analyzed for any advocacy, campaigns, votes, etc. they have done on behalf of ANIMAL rights.
All the significant founders of the Suffrage Movement were vehemently opposed to abortion rightly seeing it as a means of exploiting women. Of course, they were all Republicans, too though no one will ever learn this from the “educators”.
What do you call "more significant" than protecting the life of a baby?
It is a choice made by more than a million women in the United States each year.
That is a myth. Like all feminists, they were opposed to women being legally liable for their own actions.
This will do nothing to "save babies". It's just another law, on top of all the rest. People will do what they wish, regardless of what anyone thinks about it, or what the law mandates. You could pass a law banning ALL abortions, and women will still have them. It's a waste of time IMO, to create laws intended to change human behavior, particularly on moral issues.
Actually, many would be deterred by legal penalties. Very simple cause and effect.

"Thou Shalt Not Steal". Stealing is morally wrong. Look, stealing is a religious and a moral issue! Do you object to laws against people stealing from you???
Are you a nurse?
No, and I don't really object to this law. I just think it's a waste of good time.
Anyone that would want to steal from either of us will try to do so, regardless of what the law dictates. As they say, "locks are for honest people". Just as with laws.
Demomarxists are afraid that fetus would be more of a person then they would.
Delegate Herring said the bill was reckless and “divisive.” I guess she knows all about divisive, because isn’t that often the procedure practiced in abortion? Isn’t the baby “divided” in order to remove it from the womb?
Dear God, I hate the left.
We know that the word "choice," as used in "pro-choice," is just code for "abortion," as in "pro-abortion" rights.
In that sense, the political advocates of "choice," really mean "abortion," not "choice."
Else, they would respect and give equal value to people who choose life and pro-life positions.
For that reason, promoting abortion as choice is simply a fraudulent idea, isn't it?
personhood is a back door to outlawing all contraceptions.
