In this day of weblawyers, someone ought to be able to do a fair business of providing the forms to seek the requisite court orders of (IIRC) replevin “for $19.95” or whatever nominal fee. While I’m sure his attorney was honest, I’m also sure the estimate of cost he provided factored in his own retail rates. Might be different in a pro se proceeding.

He can't get the gun back without a order from the judge who heard the case. You may not arrest someone and ask them to incriminate themselves by handing something out of sight. He should sue the TSA guard if someone had not hired them as US Gov Law Enforcement officers with Sovern immunity. NY and the feds are out of control.
