he endorsement from Bush, who despite prodding from members of his famous family and prominent Republicans decided to sit out the 2012 contest, is the latest sign that the Republican establishment is coalescing around Romney after months publicly griping about finding another candidate.

Each day it seems more and more it will be Romney, and that I, along with a lot of other freepers, will not have a vote we can cast for a Republican in the 2012 general.
-IRINJ, standing here paralyzed as I watch a 20 car pile-up about to kill a group of children (metaphor!)
The establishment is desperate to get Romney crowned.
I am ready to fire Hussein, even if that means Mitt. Hussein is far worse.
So will that make it his turn in four years?

Mutt is far ahead at the present time, is part of the GOP establishment, can be managed by the lobbyists, and I'm looking for a job that pays well but doesn't take a lot of brain power or hard work.
Typical progressive bushite bullsh!t!
LLS
Kind of like death by the chair or death by firing squad.
The elitist Bushes are for the elitist Romney.
This is why I -never- use the term “RINO”.
People like Ford, Bush 1, Bush 2, Bush 2.5, Boehner, McCain, Scozzafava, Murkowski, Lott, Christie, Powell etc. really ARE the GOP.
People like Reagan, Goldwater, Palin and each of this year’s candidates who were beaten to pulp and eliminated are the outsiders.
I know many of you regard yourselves as the ‘base’. Sorry, from the perspective of those who run the GOP we are mere field hands. Useful, productive, and unfortunately necessary, but NOT to be let into the house except on special occasions and NEVER to have a word in the household management. Take your rations of spam and cornpone and be grateful, is their expectation.
This year we need to crush the bastards, just as in 2010 we SAVED these bastards.
The rant is over, the resolution is not. These people must be beaten. The subtle leftwing party will reduce us to the same level of servitude as the crass leftwing party, it will just take longer.
“Jeb Bush to endorse Romney before Florida primary”
So Jeb clearly has no intention of ever running for POTUS.
Are you implying that Mitt will be our guy every single election until he wins? Or, do you mean Jeb?
Sorry, I’m confused.
Sure he does. He’s following Newt’s example of endorsing Scozzafava. Reasoning is if Newt can get away with endorsing a RINO, so can Jeb. /sarc
This country is so screwed.
I hope Jeb never runs. He was a good Gov here in Florida but we need him to go back to Miami.
That is the most out of touch comment I've read lately.
The Bushes are and have been supporters of Romney from the gitgo.
FReepers who thoink there is a commection between Perry and the Bushes and Rove are... are equally as stu...out to lunch.
I don’t even pretend to dabble or understand Texan power structure, or politics.
I was born and raised in NJ, educated in Colorado ( 4 years), and have been an adult and professional for about 7 years in Manhattan, now. I turned 30 yesterday!
In a literal geographic sense I am a NE conservative, but it is funny my values seem to be more in-line with Texans and the heartland. WHY? because they are Constituional ones lol!
Thus this “Northeastern Manhattanite Republican” won’t be supporting Mitt in any election, in any way, ever.
I must say, as an outsider I am not thrilled with Perry. His record is really strong on a lot of my priorities, but not immigration. I always also thought it was weird that a NE (Connecticut I think they are from?) CC Republican family like the Bushes were so dominate in Texas. I would have assumed there would have been a pretty tough as nails structure already in place since the day of 1800.
I want you folks to put up a fortress wall and anything less is just not cutting it for me =). I’ll gladly come down and help ya’ll with the work.
Jeb is setting himself up for 2016.
Not only field hands, but badly outnumbered field hands at that; it's the Republican primary voters who keep the whole scenario going.
“Jeb is setting himself up for 2016.”
Yes he is. I don’t think Bush 2.5 will quite make it to 3 though.
I doubt he can beat Hillary, but if she doesn’t run, who will? Howard Dean?
“Not only field hands, but badly outnumbered field hands at that; it’s the Republican primary voters who keep the whole scenario going.”
My respect for the remaining relatively conservative candidates is declining. At this point, it really is their patriotic duty to defer to one among them and for the others to drop out. I really don’t care how they do it. Straws, lots, drinking game, scripture memorization - I don’t care. But two of them really need to set egos aside and boost one to the top. The stakes in 2016 will be rubble if we don’t win in 2012.
ABR now, ABR+ABO in November.
“I doubt he can beat Hillary, but if she doesnt run, who will? Howard Dean?”
In 2012 the GOP may be a third party distraction.
Oops - meant to say:
“In -2016- the GOP may be a third party distraction.”
Pop, brother & Rove, all support Mutt.
This is an interesting development, but not surprising. If anyone is, it's probably rick perry. Here's a portion of a recorded message sent out on the 7th to people requesting absentee ballots.....
Hi, this is Gov. Rick Perry calling absentee ballot voters in Florida to tell you I'm in this race to win it and to ask for your vote. Floridians can send a message to Washington: We're tired of Obama, sky high unemployment, too big to fail bailouts. Our party's the conservative party and we should govern conservatively. I'm a proven conservative in the Florida tradition of Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio.
Yep!
The Bushes were never "dominant" in TX. GHWB ran for the senate and lost. He was RNC chairman so was "known" in Houston. They were Republican when Texans were leaving the Dem party. His appointments were coming from the national party.
GWB was a nobody until he ran against Ann Richards and she was hated.
The Bushes have always been part of the elite establishment.
I have never been a big Perry fan...vote for him but never worked for him.
However, I am a Reagan conservative, and without a doubt, it's a shame that Perry isn't winning because he is exactly what small government consevatives say they want. Perry is hated by Rove and the Bushes because Perry has remained his own man and gone his separate way from them.
The immigration problem...Perry has spent $400 million of Texas tax dollars to keep them out and it really isn't OUR problem. Itis the feds job to protect the border.
If you want to help, pressure your congressmen because it is more their job than Perry's to keep illegals out. Because other states don't worry about it until it hits them, and they blame texas for letting them in, their congress men don't care to do anything about the border.
Perry is NOT a lover of illegal immigrants.
A lot of the Texans who have pounded on Perry on FR are Ron Paul supporters...secretly. I liked Christy when he didn't like unions...before he liked Romney. LOL! Cheers~
Nice summary. It dispels a lot of misconceptions about how ‘Texan’ the snowbird Bush family is. I think they regard themselves like the British in India with their opportunism in the South.
He’s better than O’Bummer. But I still like Santorum. Why is he being ignored? Maybe because they can’t find anything wrong with him.
[[ Jeb Bush to endorse Romney before Florida primary
“So will that make it his turn in four years?” ]]
Jeb Bush’s chances of winning the presidency (”Bush the IIIrd”?) are about as good as Mitt Romney’s....
Take that any way you wish.
This is a republic, not a dynasty....
No more Clintons!
No more Bush’es!
“The establishment.”
With friends like this, who needs enemies?
I guess the best spin that can be put on it is that it would have been remarkable for a Bush to back anyone other than Myth.
Birds of a feather . . . .
Hey it works in North Korea! And before ‘Bammy’ is done I expect the US to look a lot like North Korea.
Always knew Jeb was a shallow AH. He’s just betting on the winner. Probably going for VP slot. It’s all about Jeb.
NO!
Excellent post in its entirety. I have been thinking the same thing recently so it's good to see a coalescence of thought.
Wow, a Bush endorsing Romney. That’s going to play REALLY well also with the Dems, the anti-war crowd, even the Paulistas, etc.
How do you define “far ahead”?
Screw the Establishment RINOs.
They knew that many base conservatives wouldn’t support Romney.
Let’s go Gingrich...
If it’s Romney, it will be my last day as a Republican.
It’s not time for a Third Party, conservatives are 40% of the voting public....WE ARE THE OTHER PART OF THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM.
“People like Ford, Bush 1, Bush 2, Bush 2.5, Boehner, McCain, Scozzafava, Murkowski, Lott, Christie, Powell etc. really ARE the GOP.”
Bingo.
As has been pointed out by a few FReepers previously, to be accurate the term “Rino” does not describe the people listed above. They are true Republicans. “Rinos” would be the non-authentic Republicans: conservatives.
No money should be sent to the party establishment ever. Always send it directly to conservative candidates, particulary in primaries where they are challenging the Scozzabutts, Mur-cow-skis, Lamar Alexanders, etc.
Jeb is just another feckless elitist hoping to get a VP nod if the Rino wins the nomination. We saw what Jeb was made of during the drawnout murder of Terri Schiavo. Feckless to describe Jeb is being generous.
I would not be so sure that he is far worse. I think they are one in the same.
I see absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Mitt Romney would be conservative on anything, and I don’t think he would do anything that much different than Obama.
I understand the sentiment, I just cannot agree. I am a former Democrat. I voted in a primary for Jesse Jackson way back in the 80s, to give you an idea as to how liberal I once thought.
The parties ARE different. I do wish the Republicans were better on many issues, but they’re not the same as Hussein and his cult.
Romney has been trying to get votes from conservatives, and in the process has alienated the favorite demographic group of Jeb Bush.
[excerpt]
“Hispanics are angry with Romney as he has tried to outdo the most extreme GOP candidate positions on immigration. His positions may have pleased the nativists but he has a lot of work to do to mend fences with the Latino voter. Jeb Bush, who speaks fluent Spanish and married an Hispanic woman, is still popular with Latinos and his endorsement might begin a healing process that would deny Obama the kind of Hispanic majorities he received in 2008.”

Lord Almighty! Truth and honesty cannot be found among establishment Republicans. Like Democrats, the end result, hanging onto the meal ticket, is more important than the means by which they win.
We cannot trust a thing these folks say.
Apparently your recovery has a way to go.

Some might disagree.
2008 all over again.
some might, some might not
others are searching for class
