N.H. Voters Explain How They Came to Understand Ron Paul
International Business Times ^ | January 13, 2012 | Maggie Astor

Interviews with New Hampshire voters on Tuesday gave a glimpse into the issues that drew these newcomers to a campaign that has been trying to gain mainstream support for its message since Paul first ran for president in 1988.

Most said they were initially drawn to one element of Paul's platform, but came to support the rest of it later.

'Painfully, Very Slowly'

One voter, James Kelley, said he supported Paul at first because he seemed like the only candidate who was serious about cutting taxes and spending. But as he researched Paul's platform, he found himself reconsidering his hawkish foreign-policy views.

"Before him, I was basically like, nuke the Middle East and get it over with," Kelley said. "I started hearing what he was saying, and painfully, very slowly, I was like, yeah, actually, it makes sense."

From listening to Paul, Kelley concluded that it was the United States' own interventionist foreign policy that posed the greatest threat to national security.

"Initially, it [non-interventionism] didn't make any sense, because you keep hearing about all these threats and risks," he said. "But pretty much every single conflict we've been in, we've somehow preceded it. We armed the mujahedeen to fight the Soviets, and then we fight them as the Taliban. We put [Fidel] Castro in power; we put Saddam Hussein in power."

Sudetenland, you should amend the signature after your name.

It currently reads, “Anybody but Obama!!!!”.

Is this true?

Bradley Manning.

There are everything from idiots to treacherous assholes even in the military.

Catch a clue.

With Paul it is very problematic, but fortunately, that is a decision with which I will not be faced.

Dr. Paul would make this country more secure and more strong. Blowback makes us weaker and less secure.

Dr. Paul would cut $1 Trillion from Federal budget in year one. A prosperous country is a strong country.

Dr. Paul would End the Fed - we’d finally have sound money again. Sound money protects savers who provide the capital the help the country grow.

There has been, is now, and always will be a dominant world military power.
What nation or group, SpringtoLiberty, would you like to see fill the void an become that dominant military power if Ron Paul got his way and gutted the US military, closed all foreign bases and retreated to hide behind our borders?

Two questions for those oppesed to dr. Paul.

1. Do you think romney will in any way return the individul liberty and freedom that has been stolen from you and future generations of Americans over the last 50 year?

2. Do you think that a strong vp pick or secstate or secdef pick would change your attitude? Ie. Bolton, patreus, ryan, demint etc.

Ron Paul would let crazy nations with orbital capabilities build nuclear weapons which could very easily fall onto my family and kill them.

Then sound money would not mean sh*t to me, my wife or child.

I have to admit that some of it DOES make sense. My skin still crawls at all the weirdness attached to Ron Paul (thanks, ScottinVA) but a lot of what he says rings true.

I think we can agree we need some strong medicine to fix this nation of ours. Romney & Co. will just keep playing the same stupid reindeer games that Washington has been playing since FDR, tweaking instead of slashing. Does anybody really think Gingrich, Santorum, et al, will actually DO anything major to fix the problems, or just talk about change while growing government?

The radical Left is having a field day in Washington. Maybe a move to the radical right, even for a single term, would be better than the Second Civil War that so many of us see on the horizon.

I really don’t know about this one. Something’s gotta give.

So you have no problem with him praising traitors, publishing decades of racist vile loony newsletters, blaming the US for 9/11 and pandering to the Truther kook fringe, sympathizing with the Occupy parasites, participating on conspiracy nut shows, working closely with Soros and Barney Frank, supported by Democrats, foilhats, white supremacists, and the fringe of society, trashing of the US Constitution, dope pushing, promoting dangerous isolationism and gutting US defense and support Iranian and terrorist nukes?

Tell me vooch, there always has been, is now and always will be a dominant world military power. What nation or group would you like to see become that power in Paul gets his way with gutting ours?

I agree. There will always be a big boy on the world stage. I want that to be the usa as long as I and my progeny are alive. But what we have now is a military strung out. Standing on the brink of collapse and rout. It is the missuse of our military that so many americans object to.

Look at the recent numbers put up on this board today that show the men actually fighting are donating to dr. Paul’s cmpaign. More active duty personnel are donating to dr. Paul than to obama and the other republicans combined.

Our military was organised and designed to protect its citizens. Not those of other countries. It was designed to protect our borders not the dmz. Our livelihoods not the house of saud.

Also, our warfighting is done by citizens with the consent of those citizens. The office of the president is not the congress.

-—What nation or group,-—
Obviously you are happy with the latest US intervention last “Spring” that has brought the Muslim Brotherhood to power across the Middle East and Africa. Let’s keep the intervention coming because these chickens will never come home to roost. Only a Paultard kook could think that.

If your answer is the US should be that dominant military power, then you have to oppose Ron Paul. He has stated that he would gut the military. With all bases closed, as he said, we are done as a military power. Ron Paul would destroy this nation defensively and sent the entire world into chaos. He is a dangerous crackpot.

And, the military political donations to Paul is BS PR. 1. His cult can check any box they want when they donate. They/he knows they can get press by checking the “military” box. There is no audit of those things. It is no more credible than on-line polls that the Paul cult stuffs the voting. 2. The amount is peanuts. In a campaign that takes in millions of dollars, a few tens of thousands is chump change.

That begs the question of why the heck we were in Somalia in the first place.
