Apples strategy of fanning Chinese consumers desire for its iconic gadgets has backfired as a riot at its flagship store in Beijing prompted police action.
The company stopped sales of the iPhone 4S in its shops in China on Friday and the Apple store in the Sanlitun district in central Beijing stayed closed after a crowd waiting to buy the model pelted the shop with eggs and started fighting with security guards.

Publicity stunts which are borne in more or less good humor in the USA (like, what will it matter in a year whether I managed to get the very first iThing or not?) are still considered rude in China.
Occupy Apple! They are part of the 1%!
All this over a box with a three inch screen.
The Chinese probably can, when the counterfeits pop up for sale in the millions.
