Ron Paul picks up major evangelical endorsement heading into South Carolina
Greely Gazette ^ | 1-13-2012 | Jack Minor

Posted on 01/13/2012 6:25:26 PM PST by jmc813

Ron Paul picked up a major endorsement from an evangelical leader when Dr. James Linzey, president and founder of the Military Bible Association, endorsed the candidate.

Lizney, who served as a military chaplain for over 24 years and retired with an honorable discharge, has hosted Operation Freedom, a television program in Europe. Before founding the Military bible Association, he travelled the world as an evangelist.

In a statement to Congressman Paul declaring his endorsement, Lizney said, “Having thoroughly examined your political philosophy and finding that your platform is 100% in line with the Constitution of the United States of America, and examining your political record to find that you have consistently upheld the Constitution and thereby faithfully represented your constituency, and studying your statement of faith to find that your faith and religious experience is 100% compatible with Evangelical Christianity and Orthodox Christianity, I hereby endorse you for the Office of the President of the United States of America. I wish you Godspeed!"

He went on to say that while Texas governor, Rick Perry, was also an evangelical, the deciding factor for his endorsement was fidelity to the Constitution. “The tell-tale sign of being qualified for the presidency is not faith, but loyalty to the Constitution which defends the open expression of faith. Ron Paul seems to be the candidate most loyal to the Constitution according to the records.”

The endorsement could be a crucial one for Paul going into the South Carolina primary.

Some in the Christian community have taken issue with Paul's refusal to commit to reinstating the military’s ban on homosexuals serving openly.

Lizney says if evangelicals truly want ot make faith an issue in the campaign they should consider Paul’s personal testimony on his website where Paul says, “Let me be very clear here: I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and I endeavor every day to follow Him in all I do and in every position I advocate."

Lizney said while he would support Romney if he eventually wins the nomination, he believes Paul is the better candidate because, while Romney may be an excellent debater, Paul argues from the standpoint of the Constitution.

probably one of those bigoted pastors which blames Jews for everything because there is no way a proper Christian would endorse same sex marriage, killing babies, sex with animals, incest etc

How important is an endorsement from someone most people have never heard of and how does a so called evangelical support a guy who is an anti-Semite.

Ron Paul isn’t an anti-Semite. He just attracts them like flies on stink, for no apparent reason.

Never heard of him. But if RP says he’s a big time Christian leader, it must be true, because Ron Paul is the only one on the stage that isn’t a corrupt hypocrite. I know that because Ron says it, and Ron Paul is the measure of all truth and virtue. In fact, Jesus where’s a WWRPD wrist band.

No, he is, otherwise all those anti-Semites would not be attracted to him.
He shows his total contempt for Israel by his vote to continue aid to palestine and votes against aid to Israel.
Paul supports OWS, the biggest single group of anti-Semites around.
Paul’s news letters are not only racist but anti-Semitic.
He has been endorsed by David Duke and the nazi party of America, among others - anti-Semites.
Paul has a 30+ year political career with dozens of examples.
(unless you were being sarcastic)

LOL A bigot endorsing another bigot, well we can safely say that Paul not only has the druggies, tax breakers , occupy flea ridden smellies but now he has on board all the bigots like the NAZI party.

And to think there are still a few people thinking they should vote for him and his bigoted views.

Time the GOP got rid of him and said we do not want to equate ourselves with the likes of David Duke, , Occupy lot, Nazi party and the bigots towards Jews

Aw Shucks! And I thought the GOP ‘embraced’ such fun. Get rid of that and you may just discourage ‘independent’/democrats from voting in the GOP primary.

Not a hater. Paul is out there on some of his ideas (like Israel) Jim Demint supported Romney before so don’t see him helping Newt. ( Too much ego and insider games going on these days with all of these players ) IMO, Jim should get behind Newt or Rick.

Petty clear Demint (thanks for the correct spelling) is trying to bring the party together. My guess is he think Romney is the one, but he wants the Paul voters to buy into the GOP. Not an easy task but bless him for trying.

They certainly know about Ron Paul. They're pitching his bumper stickers and he swept their Presidential poll.

But that's just what Stormfront has to say about Paul. He's entirely rational. Like when someone walked up to him at a book-signing and asked him about a recent Bilderberger Group meeting:

"Did you hear about that recent . . . uh . . . Bilderberg Group meeting in . . . what was it? . . . uh . . . Chantilly, Virginia?"

Ron Paul: "Yeah, recently there was one and there was [sic] some some reports on it. I didn't read a whole lot about it but they certainly were there."

"Man. What do you think they're doing there? Seriously. What do you think they're doing there?"

Ron Paul: "Well, they probably get together and talk about how they're going to control the banking systems of the world and natural resources. And we get together and we talk about how we're going to get our freedom back! So we have our own things to talk about too."

I wanted a Ron Paul bumpersticker to Photoshop for the pie chart below, so I Googled "Ron Paul bumpersticker." I was in images mode, clicked on a photo, and found myself in a very bad part of the internet, a page with a Ron Paul bumpersticker photo infested with Stormfront Ron Paul supporters.

So I Control + Shift + 4 screen saved, and hit the link that said Stormfront supported Ron Paul and found the poll. Control + Shift + 4. Then I left the Ron Paul supporters behind and found another bumpersticker. What's your Ron Paul story?
