What will they deep fry at state fairs?

Snickers, pickles, every kind of ice cream, green tomatoes, every kind of cheese, bacon, every kind of pie, every kind of pudding, etc.

I've eaten pretty much everything deep fried at a state fair except shoelaces, and I'm not positive about that.

Hostess tastes waxy these days, like chewing those Wax lips at halloween.
/Imo Blue Bird has the best chocolate quality of commercial cupcakes.
Try them.

ALL cane sugar based goodies of years-gone-by don't taste the same.

I know ... I've ruined a perfectly good set of God's ivories gorgeing on 25 cent's worth of candy bars at a nickle each. (And they were BIG bars, too!)

The sugar glaze on the fruit pies is splotchy and scratchy. The Funny Bones (under Drakes name) have less Penut Butter Creme filling. The Blueberry Fruit Pies have disappeared altogether.

Hostess ruined their line of snack products when they shifted focus to extended shelf life as opposed to quality control.

As recently as the 1970s, Hostess products could only stay on a store shelf for 2-3 days. The "Hostess" trucks were always delivering fresh product and removing aging product (destined to be sold at the Hostess Thrift shops). The Hostess deliverymen had strict orders to bring back any product that was not absolutely fresh.

The result was you always got fresh twinkies, cupcakes and pies when you bought them at the store. Further, you did not have all those preservatives and corn syrup in the product. I can still remember how Twinkies used to taste - spongy, delicious cake that stuck to your fingers, creamy filling that made your head spin because of the sugar high that was generated. Now when you buy Twinkies, they could have been sitting on the shelf for weeks.

{{{{SHUDDER}}}}.LOL.

I’ll eat those only if there’s nothing else.

I don’t remember what they tasted like when I was little but it had to have been better.

"Do Twinkies ever go bad?"

Does an equal amount of sugar? ;-)

That may have been forced on them from tort liability or regulations. I thought maybe my own tastebuds were failing.

Maybe Twinkie lovers can make them from scratch?

What is a Twinkie but a butter sponge cake with sweetened buttercream filling?

Hardly anyone can cook anymore. Most people in their thirties and under think reheating something in a microwave is cooking.

But yeah, quality ingredients that are not skimped? Yum.

My mother used to make cinnamon rolls that made people weep for joy. Her ‘secret’? Lots of butter, sugar, nuts and cinnamon. LOTS. My mouth is watering . . .

Gotta go make some cinnamon toast or something.

I ate two twinkes just now, the first in my life.

They were far from good.

No wonder they are failing......... products are inferior

Another victim of Husseinonomics.

I saw a CNN story about this today by some reporter named Jeannie Mose, who was making fun of the company going out of business.

See, under Hussein, it is HILARIOUS when companies go under. But under Bush it was a tragedy.

Probably not. There’s a big mexican baked-goods company called “Bimbo” that recently bought out Sara Lee. I wouldn’t be surprised if they grab Hostess, given the chance (assuming they don’t already own it). I’ve been in Hostess thrift shops a couple of times, and saw Bimbo items for sale there, so there may already be a connection.
