A bomb tore through a procession of Shiite pilgrims heading toward a largely Sunni town in southern Iraq on Saturday, killing at least 53 people in the latest sign of a power struggle between rival Muslim sects that has escalated since the American military withdrawal.

SA v. Iran with Iraq as the stage. Terrible and nation building was such a waste. We should have gone in killed Saddam and Co., nailed every radical cleric, installed our own guy and reminded him we don’t want to ever come back, but if we have to clean house again we will. It could have been over in less than six months and we keep the no-fly zone in place end of story. Ditto Afghanistan.
How are the Iraqis enjoying Hope and Change?
We should have just partitioned the dump when we had the chance.
Maybe should have given the major portion to Kuwait as reparations for Saddam’s invasion.
They could afford to hire enough mercenaries to keep the peace, and would probably be rough enough about it to be respected by the savages there.
When it collapses again (Who has the pool on that?) do we go back a THIRD time, or just let the Iranians take over?
Since we trained them in our tactics and weapons, it may not be so quick next time, if we try again.
Ahhhhhh! Those doggone Amish!
