Could there be a Muslim president? (Would you vote for one?)
Associated Baptist Press ^ | 01/15/2012 | Zachary Bailes

Posted on 01/15/2012 10:25:18 AM PST by SeekAndFind

With the New Hampshire primaries behind the GOP and South Carolina on the horizon, Mitt Romney seems the likely presidential candidate. Perhaps surprisingly, Romney’s Mormonism has yet to be a major stumbling block, and as time passes it doesn’t appear that it will become a hindrance.

But let’s consider another question. Could America vote for a Muslim?

Say a Muslim arrived on the scene with powerful and equitable ideas and challenged the status quo. Perhaps doubts are cast that a Muslim could actually become president, but the same was once said about Catholics and people of color.

One stumbling block to the potential Muslim candidate would be that many people think America is a “Christian nation.” At one time even this would have been questioned. If you had said to the predecessors to what would become the United States that “America is a Puritan nation” they likely would have agreed.

Simply put, there very well could come a day when a president who prays to Allah sits in the Oval Office. As Christian privilege slowly erodes due to tidal waves of globalization and pluralism, America’s hope is that religious differences will not erode but become respected. This is thanks in large part to the Constitution.

Just this week the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously upheld a lower court order striking down an Oklahoma constitutional amendment that would prevent state courts from considering Sharia law. The decision is based not on respect for Muslim tradition, but rather for the First Amendment -- the same First Amendment that protected Baptists early in the American experience.

If anyone should be the greatest allies with Muslims in America, it is Baptists. Yet time after time many Baptists lead the charge against religious differences, even at the risk of harming their own self-interest. Many Baptists have kowtowed to political power in order to protect their power and privilege, in the process sacrificing their prophetic voice.

As Roger Williams stated in The Bloudy Tenent of Persecution for Cause of Conscience, “the blood of so many hundred thousand souls of Protestants and papists, spilled in the wars of present and former ages for their respective consciences, is not required nor accepted by Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace.”

A truly Christian nation not only imposes no formal religion on its citizens but also fosters freedom to express one’s own conscience – Muslim, Mormon or whatever.

Those who vote for Obama in 2012 will be perfectly aware that they are voting for a muslim.

50,000 already did in NH this past Tuesday night...50,000 in a state with only one million people...

I don't know of anyone in my social or professional circle who would vote for a muslim president.
This is a few hundred years from being possible in this country.

You gotta be kidding me. We already have a muzzie POTUS
squatting in the White Hut. His name is Hussein. Hussein's love of Islam in his books:

Quote from Barack Obama’s book, Dreams Of My Father:

From ‘Audacity of Hope: "LOLO (Obama’s step father) FOLLOWED ISLAM...."I LOOKED TO LOLO FOR GUIDANCE".

From ‘The Audacity Of Hope, "I WILL STAND WITH THEM (MUSLIMS) SHOULD THE POLITICAL WINDS OF WAR SHIFT IN AN UGLY DIRECTION.." . Go to The Obama File by our own FReeper, Beckwith.

Read the sections, ‘Religion’ and ‘Islam’.

The evidence is overwhelming.

. Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on earth,” in an interview with Nicholas Kristof, published in The New York Times. Kristof described Obama’s recitation of the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, “with a first-class [Arabic] accent.”

The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:

“Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! I witness that there is no god but Allah I witness that there is no god but Allah I witness that Muhammad is his prophet... “

According to Islamic scholars, reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim. This simple yet profound statement expresses a Muslim’s complete acceptance of, and total commitment to, the message of Islam.

•His biological father was a Muslim.

•His stepfather was a Muslim.

•As a child Barry was enrolled in school as a Muslim in Jakarta Indonesia.

•Barack Hussein 0bama’s first and middle names are Arabic Muslim names.

•0bama recited the opening lines of the Muslim call to prayer, which includes a vow of fidelity to Islam, in flawless Arabic on a radio program. - Nikolos Kristoff, NYTs, 3-06-07

•On that same program he said he thinks the call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on earth.”

•0bama belonged to Rev. Wright’s (a former Muslim) church for twenty years. Many congregants are Muslims.

•0bama said that the U.S. is “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”

•0bama holds Muslim celebrations in the WH but canceled the National Day of Prayer.

•President 0bama’s religious adviser, Eboo Patel, once deemed the United States “the ideal place for the renewal of Islam.”

•0bama falsely attributes Muslim participation in the founding of America.

•0bama required that the cross be covered when he gave a speech at Notre Dame.

•Christian symbol covered up during Obama’s Georgetown speech

•0bama’s first major speech in office was a “Muslim outreach” speech in Cairo Egypt.

•“The American President told me in confidence that he is a Muslim,” said Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Nile TV.

•0bama gave strong support to the Cordoba House community center and mosque to be built at the Ground Zero site of Sep. 11, 2001 at a dinner celebrating the day’s end of the first day of Ramadan at the WH.

•0bama tasked NASA with a mission of “Muslim outreach.”

•0bama referred to his faith as “my Muslim faith” in an interview with George Stephanopolous.

Obama admits he’s a Muslim

. Obama appoints Muslims to key security posts:

. Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said he had a one-on-one meeting with Obama, where Obama told him that He was still a Muslim, and that he was sympathetic towards the Muslim agenda.

In 2001, Obama sponsored Illinois Senate Bill 750 creating the “Halal Food Act,” providing for inspections by the Department of Agriculture to ensure that all food labeled Halal is prepared according to Islamic law.

This act plays into Islamization. Here’s how it works and how Halal food plays a role:

“From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.

They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply (United States)

10 Quotes By Barack Obama About Islam

#1 "Islam has always been part of America"

#2 "we will encourage more Americans to study in Muslim communities"

#3 "These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings."

#4 "America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."

#5 "So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed"

#6 "Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality"

#7 "As a young man, I worked in Chicago communities where many found dignity and peace in their Muslim faith."

#8 "I look forward to hosting an Iftar dinner celebrating Ramadan here at the White House later this week, and wish you a blessed month."

#9 "That experience guides my conviction that partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is, not what it isn't. And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear."

#10 "I also know that Islam has always been a part of America's story."

10 Quotes By Barack Obama About Christianity

#1 "Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation"

#2 "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation."

#3 "Which passages of scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith?"

#4 "Even those who claim the Bible's inerrancy make distinctions between Scriptural edicts, sensing that some passages - the Ten Commandments, say, or a belief in Christ's divinity - are central to Christian faith, while others are more culturally specific and may be modified to accommodate modern life."

#5 "The American people intuitively understand this, which is why the majority of Catholics practice birth control and some of those opposed to gay marriage nevertheless are opposed to a Constitutional amendment to ban it. Religious leadership need not accept such wisdom in counseling their flocks, but they should recognize this wisdom in their politics."

#6 From Obama's book, The Audacity of Hope: "I am not willing to have the state deny American citizens a civil union that confers equivalent rights on such basic matters as hospital visitation or health insurance coverage simply because the people they love are of the same sex—nor am I willing to accept a reading of the Bible that considers an obscure line in Romans to be more defining of Christianity than the Sermon on the Mount."

#7 "I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell. I can't imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity. That's just not part of my religious makeup."

#8 "Those opposed to abortion cannot simply invoke God’s will--they have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths."

#9 On his support for civil unions for gay couples: "If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount."

#10 "I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people."

For a while, I worked with a gentleman who had emigrated from Syria. He was so closed mouthed about his background that I had no idea of his religion. He even hid his Syrian name.

His standard business practices included lying. I was even on a conference call with him, and a government agency, and he lied to them. I assume this was a learned culture in his home country. I can't imagine voting for some one from the same culture.

I have a feeling though that they won’t mind if their heart surgeon turns out to be Muslim.

Doctors want the right to refuse to treat patients, British study says

Snip: Out of the 10 different religious groups the students belonged to, Muslims were the most likely to believe they had a right to conscientiously object.

When our doctor is a muslim: Medical terrorism comes to America

But even in hospitals where they do not predominate, Muslim doctors are starting to demonstrate behavior toward non-Muslim patients that is beyond alarming. On December 1, 2003, Joe Applebaum was admitted to Rush North Shore Medical Center, a major hospital in Chicago. He was stricken with an acute (or distended) abdomen–a swelling of the stomach that is easily diagnosed and treated. But it was never treated by anyone at the hospital. For 12 hours, Joe Applebaum was left alone–left to die, which he did the next day.

A Jewish man, he was identified as a Jew on the front page of his medical chart. The chief resident doctor assigned to treat Mr. Applebaum, Osama Ahmed Ibrahim, MD, sure noticed the religious notation on Applebaum’s chart. And it appears that this is why he never once checked or examined this emergency patient, Mr. Applebaum, and left him to die. When another doctor at the hospital finally examined Mr. Applebaum–not his assigned doctor, Dr. Ibrahim, he told Applebaum’s son, Michael, to say good-bye to his father because he was about to die.

Dr. Ibrahim, is a Muslim from Birmingham, England–a hotbed of Islamic radicalism and terror planning. It is breeding ground for anti-Semitic hate. He is a graduate of Ain Shams University Medical School in Egypt. This extremist school featured on its faculty the father of Al-Qaeda mastermind and number two, Dr. Ayman Al-Zawahiri. Pere Zawahiri was a Muslim Brotherhood activist.

Muslim doctors–especially those from foreign medical schools deep in the world of anti-Semitic, anti-American hate; but many from here, too–have backgrounds that are incompatible with the basic level of care that is required and expected in America. Sadly, no-one is vetting them out of our healthcare system. And no-one will.

But we know that there are many doctors who’ve been at the forefront of taking lives–not saving them–in the name of the “Religion of Peace”:

No, and for most if not all the reasons listed in these comments. I do believe that our actions at this time will determine whether we win or lose and if we lose we have lost the future. With the 80 thousand muslims being brought in this year, the ones we already have, the illegals coming in the southern border, the illegal muslims coming in from Canada, these will continue to multiply like rabbits. Then we see how our children and grand children are being taught and indoctrinized at school, TV, political correctness, and that the socialist prefer muslims because they are a segment of the population that adapts well to living under tyrants. I believe we will have a muslim president of the 57 states of of the new caliphate, amerika. I do believe we have one now, he’s just not so open about it. If we don’t get it stopped now we will have another one.

Strange question; would I vote for a muslim to be president? The answer is no, not under any circumstances given the structure and history of their beliefs and systems which are contrary to those of the highest forms of Western Civilization, i.e., democracy, capitalism and Judeo-Christianity. In fact, their beliefs are to destroy those bases of our systems and replace them with their own. I wouldn’t vote for a nazi or communist either, given their beliefs/systems are enemies of Western Civilization as well, which is why we fought to destroy them, and which is why we are at war with islam too, like it,or believe it, or not.

Worth reposting...what I think, too.

If you had said to the predecessors to what would become the United States that “America is a Puritan nation” they likely would have agreed.

Er, history much? There were Puritan areas in New England, but not universally, especially not by the 18th century. The rest of the country, especially the culturally and economically dominant South, had few or none. I'll grant you pockets of Presbyterianism. But overall, the Anglicans ruled, and there was no serious question about this that I have ever read. As far as I know, the purpose of the 1-A was for the Methodists, Baptists, Quakers, and so on to keep them from making it official.

That war against Islam is not working out too well. . .and of course, our Leadership reminds us that we are NOT at war against Islam. . .just those who are radicalized by indoctrination.

Hard to imagine, Western Civilization, giving way to the madness that owns this religion. But; hey they are patient; and they are making progress. (Have only to look at BHO; to get a feeling, for America; and to appreciate what 'political correctness' CAN do. . .to any mind.

We now have in place in our White House; all elements of the worst of those you mention, that America fought wars for - and against.) And this disaster is celebrated. . .
