Morning Joe: In Rejecting Huntsman, Republicans 'Turned Their Back' On Reagan
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/16/2012 4:43:31 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Tuning in Morning Joe today, I half expected to discover on the set some professional mourners imported from North Korea, keening and crying over the political demise of Jon Huntsman.

Huntsman had had the Morning Joe crowd from hello. The overwhelming winner of the bien-pensant MSM primary was amazingly popular—except with actual Republican voters, who didn't dig his moderate positioning and a tone that some found . . . well, how do you say "supercilious" in Mandarin? Taking today's cake was Joe Scarborough finding Huntsman's "moderate temperament" Reaganesque, and claiming that in rejecting Huntsman, Republicans have "turned their backs" on Ronald Reagan.

Scarborough says that in rejecting Huntsman, Republicans have “turned their back” on Reagan, who also had a “moderate temperament.” Guaranteed engine-starter ping to Today show list.

So we turned our backs on this "Reagan" guy, who dropped out so RINO Romney had a better chance of winning?

Works for me!

Think Reagan would’ve written a love letter to Carter? Huntsman wrote one to barry.. Conservative? Not..

As I recall, Scarboro played guitar in a rock band and Huntsman played keyboards in a rock band. Scarboro is just pissed because he won’t get to jam with him..

And Scarboro is ticked because the only network that would hire him is MSLSD.

????

First Palin, then Perry, then Newt, now Huntsman, all characterized as Reagans by those ga-ga over them. This isn’t even funny anymore.

the only thing shocking to me is that Romney has done any better than Huntsman.

they are both awful.

The only reason Romney is leading is because the MSM has been playing whack-a-mole with any candidate who has a hint of Conservatism, and we’ve responded to it.

If Santorum would just drop out Gingrich could still pull this out. I am still sitting here amazed that Santorum surged in the final week before Iowa just enough to swell his head and keep him from dropping out after Iowa like he would have and has managed to help Romney in the process.

Reagan was warm and engaging at a personal level, not ‘moderate’ in temperament. In his love of liberty, Reagan was passionate and inflexible.

Listening to Huntsman in his debate with Newt Gingrich -did- show a collegial warmth and wittiness which was noteworthy. Thankfully the nomenklatura have backed Romney instead of Huntsman.

What Huntsman -said- however was nothing like the thought processes of Reagan. It was all about people as productive units. Math factors. What Lenin would call ‘masses’, and Reagan would have recognized as souls.

Reagan and Huntsman could both be defined as courteous and articulate, and there the resemblance ends.

Reagan was a brilliant and passionate freedom fighter.

Huntsman is a clever and diligent apparat.

NBC, CNBC and MSLSD insist on putting these liberals (Meghan McCain, Scarphoney, Andrew Sullivan, etc) in front of the public and position them as conservatives. I’d like to think their ratings are indicative of how successful they are at their attempt at manipulation of the public.

Jon Huntsman is to Ronald Reagan as Joe Scarborough is to intelligence. Sad thing is that Joe actually raises the average intelligence of that group.
