I was a Kennedy worshipper at the time. I will just note Nixon claimed we let the Russians off easy on Cuba. We had the Russians outgunned (Kennedy had lied about the “missile gap” to get elected) and we had every just reason to invade Cuba. Instead we may have agreed never to invade.
Yes, of the worst kind, and that trait was among the most positive aspects of their characters.

Add in JFK's EO allowing Federal employees the right to unionize and “PRESTO” they did destroy America.
Like I said a few weeks ago, most of that klan should have been Einsatzgruppened of the face of the Earth.
Think how much better off the country (and the world) would have been without the Kennedy Crime Family ever wielding power.

There are two good biographies:
1. The Sins of the Father: Joseph P. Kennedy and the Dynasty He Founded. Grand Central Publishing. 1996. by Ronald Kessler
2. The Kennedy Men: Three Generations of Sex, Scandal, and Secrets”. 1996. by Nellie Bly
There is a website that mentions those two biographies, which are never quoted by the liberal media. The Kennedy myth represents the greatest organized propaganda campaign in American history. Joe Kennedy’s own father, Patrick Kennedy (JFK’s Grandpa), was a corrupt politician who used public office to enrich himself. His son, Joe Kennedy, made a lot of money on Wall Street using insider trading, before effective laws against the practice had been put in place. During prohibition, he was a friend and business partner to many Mafia bosses, including Sam Giancana and Frank Costello. Note the following quotations on the website I have mentioned:

When a big Mafia boss like Giancana calls you a “big crook”, it is the equivalent of Fidel Castro calling you a “dedicated communist”. Joe Kennedy was every bit a Mafia boss, like the better known Italian mob bosses, only that he was much smarter at covering his tracks, and much richer. He built a fortune of $400 million by the early 1950s, which made him one of the ten richest men in America.
He then started promoting the political career of his son, John Kennedy, by bribing journalists to give his son favorable publicity. This involved exaggerating JFK’s World War Two record, when there were other American war heros whose records were more impressive, but they never got any publicity. He paid a bribe of $75,000 to put JFK on the cover of Time magazine in 1957.
With regard to Nazi Germany, Ronald Kessler notes:
“As Ambassador to England, Joe would later make clear that he thought the Jews had `brought on themselves’ whatever Hitler did to them. During a 1938 meeting at the German Embassy in London, Kennedy assured the German ambassador that America only wanted friendly relations with Hitler. Joe said that Hitler’s government had done `great things’ for the country, and that the Germans were `satisfied’ and enjoyed `good living conditions.’ Joe told the ambassador that a recent report which said the limited food in Germany was being reserved for the army could not be true. After all, Joe said, the professor who had made the report `was a Jew.’
“Kennedy urged his friend William Randolph Hearst to help Hitler improve his image in the United States. Hearst agreed, and under his own byline he told his readers that Hitler had `restored character and courage. Hitler gave hope and confidence. He established order and unity of purpose.’
“Based on what his father had told him, Morton Downey, Jr. said, `I think if Joe had his way, Hitler would have succeeded in his annihilation of the Jews...He always found great favor in Hitler. He would have loved to see him succeed.’
“Joe Kennedy often professed admiration for the works of Brooks Adams, whose views on racial purity paralleled Hitler’s. Joe accepted Adams as his intellectual guru, ratifying, as he did, the prejudices that Joe already had.
“An historian, Adams articulated a `survival of the fittest’ theory much like Hitler’s. Eventually, he wrote, the `energy’ of a `race’ is exhausted, and it must be replaced by the infusion of `barbarian blood.

By the way, Harry Truman opposed JFK being nominated as Democratic candidate for President, because he was the son of a crime boss. A great quote from Truman, who tried to deflect accusations of anti-Catholicism: “I am not against the Pope, I am against the Pop”.

I’ve been interested in the kenney’s, as I was military when JFK determined military Generals did not have the where-with-all to write appropriate speaches, until his “dept of Peace” McNaMARA had a chance to read to determine if the article fit JFK’s agenda. He was not one of my faves.
I agree with all you said about the Kennedys.
The “jinx” I was talking about is kind of an almost subconscious sense that their prominence in our political
life as a 70 year “dynasty” has left even apolitical Americans with a certain degree of queasiness about them,with the unspoken idea being “when will be free of
these people??”
Of course we always knew what Teddy was made of, and his insane rants against Bork during the Supreme Court hearing set the tone for Democrat demagoguing for decades to come. He was far and away the worst of the bunch.
The fact is, the Kennedys are a dynasty whose time has passed.
Even Chris Matthews’s embarrassing love song in his new book JFK won’t help.
Was the Kennedy Family a Bunch of Racists?Yes.
What does that mean exactly and more important than that...who cares whether they were or not and as defined by whom? The NAACP? The Black Caucus, Al Sharpton?
Has the GOP now become Marxist lite. Are they seeking white 'racist' under every rock? While they run around in circles whining about white racists and trying to prove they are not 'racist' the Black & Hispanic Caucuses not to mention hundreds/thousands of other race based groups are smiling. It is no wonder the GOP is asunder.
Granted to be 'The Outfit Boss' one did have to be Italian and a 'made member', but Street Crews and Hitmen did not, especially the Hitmen. So it can't be compared to the NY 'Mafia' Families or Sicilian 'Mafia' in a true sense.
This goes back to the Capone era, or earlier, when all the old Mafia, 'Blackhand' Mustache Pete's were whacked, or 'eased out', who ran the Italian neighborhoods in Chi.
So Al was really ahead of his time. He believed that 'Diversity Is Our Strength' :-)
