Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has up to this point opted not to make his tax returns public.
Not surprisingly, Newsweek's Eleanor Clift smells a rat and expressed her conspiratorial opinion during the predictions segment of PBS's McLaughlin Group Friday (video follows with transcript):
ELEANOR CLIFT, NEWSWEEK: Romneys refusal so far to release his income tax returns will be linked to probable investments in the Cayman Islands and the likelihood that he paid a very small percentage of his income in taxes.

Of course she knows that Romney is not currently drawing a Salary.
Eleanor can relax. If Romney becomes the candidate I believe they are required to give out their income tax. No one should until that time. She is making up anything to bash Romney.
Oh, REALLY??
And what is O’Bummer withholding?
Easier to list what he has released, which is practically nothing of interest or value.
ELEANOR CLIFT STILL ALIVE????
Clift is off her rocker,
but this rumor has been floating around for since the 2008 primaries and NYC IB people who are counterparties to his deals have been the ones spreading the rumors.
He didn’t take up the IRS amnesty offer, which means he is trapped in a web of lies.
But that’s just rumors,
I despise Eleanor Clift. Talk about a woman who needs to have vocal lessons so that others can stand to listen to her, she is the poster child. I stopped listening to anything she has to say years ago.
Actually, this makes the point that lower corporate taxes, lower capital gains taxes will cause enormous amounts of money to be repatriated. I think this is something most of the GOP candidates have been saying.
Companies and corporations don’t really pay taxes anyway, they just collect them. You pay the tax when you buy the gallon of milk at the supermarket; its built into the price of the product. They raise taxes on the rich and all that happens is the price of tires goes up, and gasoline, and everything else. That, and more jobs shift away off shore. Lower taxes and the reverse happens.
Oh you know that the Zero chitwn thuggery ops has already tracked this down. Bet on that one. Where do you think ole Cliff got her info?
of course this is why Romney wont release his tax returns, he is keeping his income offshore to avoid taxes.
He is offshoring his profits just as he offshored most of the “jobs” he supposedly created at Bain.
Romney is one of the biggest frauds I have ever seen in politics.
LEGAL tax avoidance is the logical and responsible thing to do!
“ELEANOR CLIFT STILL ALIVE????”
I believe she died several years. They just bring her corpse out and prop her up and do a voice-over direct from the most deranged DU blogger through a special voice box. It’s quite an honor for the bloggers, who vie intensely for the honor.
Sort of a “Weekend at Bernie’s” with a socialist twist.

And NO, I’m not a Romney fan!
"Eleanor can relax. If Romney becomes the candidate I believe they are required to give out their income tax."
I don't think that's true:
"While the presidential candidates are required to file financial disclosure forms which list sources of income and assets held, as well as ballpark figures of the value of those assets and income by May 15th of this year or within 30 days of announcing their candidacy, there is no such legal requirement that any tax returns see the light of day."
+1
I have offshore investments. You’re a fool if you don’t with Barrack at the helm.
Wow! I didn’t know Eleanor Clift was still alive.
LOL!
