WASHINGTON (AP) -- When last seen in Washington, House Republicans were furious with their own leader, Speaker John Boehner, and angry with their Senate Republican brethren over how the showdown over the Social Security tax cut turned into a year-end political debacle.
The holidays and three weeks away from the Capitol have tempered some of the bad feelings, but several GOP lawmakers' emotions are still raw as Congress returns for a 2012 session certain to be driven by election-year politics and fierce fights over the size and scope of government and its taxing, spending and borrowing practices.
In the week before Christmas, House Republicans revolted against the Senate-passed deal to extend the payroll tax cut for two months for 160 million workers and ensure jobless benefits for millions more long-term unemployed. Facing intense political pressure, Boehner, R-Ohio, caved, daring tea partyers and other dissenters to challenge his decision to pass the short-term plan without a roll-call vote. None stepped forward to stop him.
"A lot of us who went into battle turned around and no one was behind us," freshman Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., said last week, sounding like the fight was still fresh and insistent that leadership had abandoned them.
"A lot of us are still smarting," he added.
The two-month extension that Senate Republican and Democratic leaders Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid had characterized as a draw ended up as a big victory for President Barack Obama . . .

POINT OUT THE MESSIAH is the one who's spent the economy into TRILLIONS OF DEBT, WITH HANDOUTS TO HIS FAVORED CRONIES, UNIONS, AND MINORITY CONSTITUENTS (you know; those un-qualified buyers who the Government FORCED banks to give mortgages to, who had NO INCOME but Welfare checks, accelerating the DEFAULTS of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac).
Get out and tell the TRUTH about WHY Un-employment handouts have to be extended for more than 2 years !
This debacle has placed Social Security in a very bad position of being even more underfunded than normal, whatever normal is anymore, and not a peep from the left or democrats in general. Not sure what they are hoping for but I’m betting they don’t have a clue what will be coming their way when the world collapses. There will be enough blame to spread around and it will be all theirs to eat. The Republicans had no choice but to go along since they don’t own the Senate.

After a short review, I need to add a bit. Only 66 Members of the House of Representatives voted not to extend the debt limit two months ago. I guess that would place some degree of responsibility on those wascally wepublicans. What degree does one place on fear and trembling, which is seemingly why they caved on a very important message, that I’m afraid not one in ten would understand.
Then there is the almost three year budget drought brought to us by scary Harry and his Senate. Now there is ample evidence of failure to warrant removal of every single Senator, and good riddance. For twenty years I have maintained that the US Senate is the most dangerous and powerful body of men and women on the face of this earth. Both of those truths need to end by the most expeditious means possible.

You just have to wonder just how long the “Tea Party” House members are going to go along with Boner & Mr. Chinless and their “Italian Army” followers. (and my apologies in advance to Italians)
It’s simple. If it costs more money - vote NO. If it cuts taxes - vote YES. Be consistent. Grow a pair. Stand your ground.
Firt thing needed is to toss Boehner out of the Speakers chair and put Paul Ryan in it.

Here’s a strategy for the GOP. Stop acting like you’re afraid of Obama, and start acting like conservatives instead.
The absence of a budget has insured steadily higher spending.
Understand that, in the absence of a budget, the so-called baseline budget increases by 7-8% per year -- automatically.
Thus, in the absence of a budget, the Porkulus Bill -- purportedly a one-time emergency measure -- got built into the spending plan. And, like all the other spending, is growing 7-8% per year.
Why the majority GOP House and the minority GOP Senate haven't been able to do anything about this ridiculous state of affairs -- or even raise hell about it -- is beyond me.
Social Security is owed several trillion dollars by the US government. There are several ways to pay that back (so that Social Security can pay the annuitants).

I suggest that this insane desire by Mr Obama to show tax cuts by cutting the payroll tax that alone supports social security, is the action of a blithering idiot. Since we know full well that the half black individual “occupying” the White House is NOT a blithering idiot there is obviously an agenda that ought to get the attention of everyone with a brain. That appears to be a bridge too far.
