Clyburn: Romney Reminiscent Of Racists Who Kept Rosa Parks In Back Of Bus
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

How pathetic. Jim Clyburn chose Martin Luther King Day to smear Mitt Romney with the shop-worn charge of racism.

Straining absurdly to make his accusation, the South Carolina Dem, appearing on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show, somehow managed to equate Romney's criticism of the politics of envy with the people who sought to keep Rosa Parks in the back of the bus.

Of course Clyburn is the adorable democrat who said that if we had success in Iraq (in 2006) then that would be bad news for the democrats.

The day is coming - if it isn’t here already - when Blacks will have earned their position as second class citizens, by continued support of racism and idiots to represent them as “leaders”.

I mean - who on this planet with a brain doesn’t know these two guys are schmucks?

I fear - White America - has seen enough.

The ONLY logical conclusion - is that anyone who would elect or allow these people to represent them - is a racist idiot.

So what happened after 1978?

Up through early June of 1978, blacks could not...
...hold priesthood privileges in the Mormon church...something they gave to even 12 yo white boys...
...get married in the Mormon temple...no matter how "worthy" they might be personally...
...perform ANY rituals in the Mormon temple...
...receive upper callings in the Mormon church (bishop, stake president, missionary president, institute teacher, general authority, etc.)

Mormon leaders were being pressured on multiple fronts.

For example, universities like Stanford would no longer play BYU in any athletic competition because of this policy...and Stanford was encouraging other universities to follow suit.

In the late 1960s, over a dozen black Wyoming football players got kicked off of that team merely for requesting -- twice -- to its coach that they be allowed to wear a black arm band in their game that week vs. BYU.

The Wyoming football program didn't recover from that misstep for a LONG time...as it had difficulty recruiting black players.

Also, when BYU teams would go into other teams' facilities -- for example, New Mexico's pit for basketball -- the level of verbal hostility was escalated.

The MORE pressing front facing the LDS church came from its mission field in Brazil. Spencer W. Kimball, the Lds "prophet" who made the ultimate call to change its policy in June, 1978, realized they had a major problem in placing a temple in a mission field like Brazil.

Brazil is such a mixed-race country (Hispanic, black, European backdrop as well injected there) that the majority of Mormons there had no pure "white" status and would have been excluded from that temple.

So the Mormon "prophet" changed almost 150 years' worth of Mormon racist policy on all this...(Ya gotta remember the Mormon church has been OFFICIALLY & OVERTLY racist for over 80% of its history!)

At the time this occurred, Mitt Romney was 31 years of age...and yet we don't ever hear if Mitt had any "on the record" objections to these racist policies from Mitt's adult years...from 1965-1978.

Why not?

If Rick Perry can be "scandalized" in the media over a rock turned upside down on his family's hunting ground, imagine what the MSM will do to absolutely skewer Romney's Mormonism in 2012...should Mitt win the nomination!

They are training their guns now...but waiting til they see the "whites of Mitt's eyes" before opening fire.

AND -- ESPECIALLY given that Obama is the Dems' choice -- guess what economic and social issues' concerns will ALL get swept under the 2012 MSM rug...all because the GOP is running the extreme risk of allowing the Dems & the MSM to make the 2012 campaign a referendum on racism!

By Nov 1, 2012, if Mitt is nominated, EVERY GOP voter will be linked, associated, tied to, etc. Romney's overt racism...being openly ridiculed as THE party that picked the "good ole boy" country club "whites only" member as THEIR pick to represent them.

GOP voters: Better get used to being called racists by mere party association if you go along with Mittster...even if it's a situation of going along with the Mythster vs. Obama.

Right. So what did Romney himself do before 1978 and what happened after 1978? I mean that was 34 years ago.

And it doesn’t matter which Republican gets the nomination. The Democrats are going to paint them, and us, as racists no matter what.

I fail to see how carrying Sharpton’s water on calling Republican racists combats that.

So what did Romney himself do before 1978...

There's two aspects to this...what he did do (what the MSM will focus especially focus on)...
...and what he didn't do...(what I am stressing)

So let's take the MSM first: What he did do?

Well...what did Perry do?

He went hunting. On a certain ground. Where apparently a negative word. Was painted on a rock.

That was enough for Perry's ratings to begin to fall like...well, like rocks.

Romney's guilt-by-association in this way is MUCH MUCH steeper. Not just guilt-by-geographical association, but guilt by membership where he ACTIVELY gave 10% of his income to such an openly racist organization! Every Mormon at every general conference where a new "prophet" is announced also verbally sustains that new "prophet." And when "prophets" leave racist positions and policies in place, and the entire Mormondom "sustains" such a "prophet," then they are acting in lockstep.

What Romney failed to do:

He failed to take on the racist system in any open way; and failed to leave any record of attempting race reformation within Mormondom behind closed doors.

Simply put, he acquiesced to this openly racist organization by not recording any objections between 1965 and 1978 to Mormonism's racist actions and policies and "scriptures."

Surely, you've heard the phrase: "If you're not part of the (attempted) solution, then you're part of the problem."

The Democrats are going to paint them, and us, as racists no matter what.

True. But why should the GOP give them and the MSM all the ammo and firing range and such an easy wide-open, inviting target?

...what happened after 1978?

Well aside from their race-based priesthood policy changes & temple access policy changes, the Mormons, after promoting the Book of Mormon as the purely delivered "word of the Mormon god" for 148 years...started making minor editing changes...like in 2 Nephi 30:6.

In 1981, the Mormon church changed the phrase "white and delightsome" in that verse to "fair and delightsome" -- with nary an explanation for the change.

The verse in pre-1981 Book of Mormon versions read:
"...many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and delightsome people." (2 Nephi 30:6)

The Mormons, though, couldn't start erasing ALL Book of Mormon skin-based racist passages, lest it become even more obvious that they were trying to hide the evidence.

STILL on the Mormon books -- what true-believing Mormons adhere to to this day...are verses like:

* "And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceeding fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them." (2 Nephi 5:21)

* "And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against the their brethren..." (Alma 3:6)

* "Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins..." (Jacob 3:5) [Note: The "Lamanites" per Mormonism are Native Americans...so their skin color, says Mormon "scripture" is based upon a supposed curse]

* "And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites." (3 Nephi 2:15) [Note: So...to be "uncursed" is to have your skin turn white...per Romney's Mormonism, that is!]

Another one of their "scriptural" books includes this:

The Book of Abraham verses are 1:24-27..."and thus, from Ham, sprang that race which preserved the curse in the land." (v. 24)...Pharaoh was then supposedly "cursed...as pertaining to the Priesthood. Now, Pharaoh, being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood..." (v. 26-27)

Some Mormons talk as if a darker skin color as-a-supposed-curse was just ONLY some talk in the past. Uh, no! Look at the verses above -- Alma 3:6 and Jacob 3:5, for example. They also talk as if the "curse of Ham" being a darker skin color was also just some teaching that's been jettisoned. Well, then why is the Book of Abraham phrasing still there in their Mormon "scripture" -- the Pearl of Great Price?

I can just imagine the MSM asking Mitt Romney questions like: "Mitt, do you believe verses like 2 Nephi 5:21, Alma 3:6, Jacob 3:5, 3 Nephi 2:15 are all literal depictions of truth for Mormons to adhere to?"

How pathetic. Jim Clyburn chose Martin Luther King Day to smear Mitt Romney with the shop-worn charge of racism.

Indeed!

It's not ROMNEY's fault he CHOSE to stay in a religion that; until 1978; believed and taught the following:

"You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.

The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings.

This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race--that they should be the 'servant of servants', and they will be, until that curse is removed."

Brigham Young-President and second 'Prophet' of the Mormon Church, 1844-1877- Extract from Journal of Discourses.

Here are two examples from their 'other testament', the Book of Mormon.

2 Nephi 5: 21 'And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people, the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.'

Alma 3: 6 'And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.'

August 27, 1954 in an address at Brigham Young University (BYU), Mormon Elder, Mark E Peterson, in speaking to a convention of teachers of religion at the college level, said:

"The discussion on civil rights, especially over the last 20 years, has drawn some very sharp lines. It has blinded the thinking of some of our own people, I believe. They have allowed their political affiliations to color their thinking to some extent.I think I have read enough to give you an idea of what the Negro is after."

"He is not just seeking the opportunity of sitting down in a cafe where white people eat. He isn't just trying to ride on the same streetcar or the same Pullman car with white people. It isn't that he just desires to go to the same theater as the white people. From this, and other interviews I have read, it appears that the Negro seeks absorption with the white race. He will not be satisfied until he achieves it by intermarriage."

"That is his objective and we must face it. We must not allow our feelings to carry us away, nor must we feel so sorry for Negroes that we will open our arms and embrace them with everything we have. Remember the little statement that we used to say about sin, 'First we pity, then endure, then embrace'...."

(Rosa Parks would have probably told Petersen under which wheel of the bus he should go sit.)

1967, (then) Mormon President Ezra Taft Benson said,

"The Communist program for revolution in America has been in progress for many years and is far advanced. First of all, we must not place the blame upon Negroes. They are merely the unfortunate group that has been selected by professional Communist agitators to be used as the primary source of cannon fodder."

We are told that on June 8, 1978, it was 'revealed' to the then president, Spencer Kimball, that people of color could now gain entry into the priesthood.

According to the church, Kimball spent many long hours petitioning God, begging him to give worthy black people the priesthood. God finally relented.

Sometime before the 'revelation' came to chief 'Prophet' Spencer Kimball in June 1978, General Authority, Bruce R McConkie had said:

"The Blacks are denied the Priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty.

The Negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow there from, but this inequality is not of man's origin, it is the Lord's doings."

(Mormon Doctrine, pp. 526-527).

When Mormon 'Apostle' Mark E Petersen spoke on 'Race Problems- As they affect the Church' at the BYU campus in 1954, the following was also said:

"...if the negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a servant, but he will get celestial glory."

When Mormon 'Prophet' and second President of the Church, Brigham Young, spoke in 1863 the following was also said:

"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God is death on the spot. This will always be so."

(Journal of Discourses, Vo. 10, p. 110)

Yeah; Native Americans are althroughout the Book of MORMON; too.

“I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today ... they are fast becoming a white and delightsome people.... For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised.... The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.

At one meeting a father and mother and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl-sixteen-sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parents—on the same reservation, in the same hogan, subject to the same sun and wind and weather.... These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness.

One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated.

(Improvement Era, December 1960, pp.922-23). (p. 209)
