Video: Gingrich vs. Juan Williams on the “food-stamp president”
HotAir ^ | 1/16/2012 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Via BuzzFeed. Between this, the exchange with Ron Paul on Bin Laden, and the zinger about 99 weeks being an associate degree, I’m thinking he might have turned South Carolina from a solid Romney lead into a nailbiter. Has any candidate at any debate had the crowd more riled up than this?

Here’s the bit with Williams plus, via Breitbart TV, the OBL question. I hope Juan is reporting this as an in-kind contribution to Gingrich 2012. Exit quotation from Tom Bevan of RCP: “Newt really is the Honey Badger.”

I remember Juan from his early days on Crossfire. He certainly has matured. He’s still a lib, but one can now reason with him and actually have a discussion. I think you both make a valid point.

Agree with that, and posted a similar thought on the Live Debate Thread earlier. Juan is certainly no conservative--but he's not one of those "tingle-down-the-leg" libtards either.

And--he was not at all defensive about the standing O that Newt got. In fact, it seemed as if he enjoyed the audience's reaction and engagement, and saw it as part of what made the debate so good.

First standing ovation in the history of debates!!!

Who inspires more?

Who do you want to see for the next four (five) years on TV?

Who makes you feel GOOD about your country?

Who speaks and leaves you wanting MORE?

WHO do you want to see PUMMEL Obama and make the debate moderators cry?

Sorry, I had to add that to your list.

Newt would make Obama cry. He’d have to be put into a straight jacket and led out of the debate after 20 minutes with Newt.

With Romney? Well, it would be a big back and forth boring platitude fest. I doubt many would even tune in.

Of course, one would incite riots in the street. The other would result in “business as usual.”

I know which one the powers that be are banking on.

Hillary went into the Democratic primaries under the auspice of a coronation, too. Then Obama snatched the crown and put it on his own head.

Newt definitely displayed the kind of candidate I want to see go up against...ANYBODY! In command of the facts, succinct, to the point, and unafraid.

Mr. Newt is the strongest of the candidates without a doubt to face Mr. O.

I've been saying this since last Fall. FReepers better pay attention and think about who can beat this guy:

Newt was fantastic last night.

Everyone should go to the link cited and read the comments left by the readers. That will be the last time that I visit “hot air” in following any links to it. The comments alone are enough to prove the bias in the reports there.

Yep...one commenter called Newt a bigot for the food stamp line. No, the real bigots are those who encourage food stamps as "income".

HA has changed for the worse since Michelle sold it. They've held a few too many open registrations and have allowed too many DUers to run the place.
