Several years ago, I took my then 6-year old daughter to Disney World for a day when we happened to be in Orlando over the Christmas holiday.

I (stupidly) figured that Christmas Day would be the best day to go, since it seemed to me that the park wouldn’t be that crowded on that day. Big mistake — it turns out that Christmas Day is the most crowded day of the year at Disneyworld.

To make matters worse, the weather was rotten, and as soon as we got to the park it began pouring. Everybody ducked into Cinderella’s Castle to get out of the rain. The lobby of the Castle was as crowded as a NYC subway train at rush hour.

We were jammed in there, and at my daughter’s eye level, all she could see was the butts of the adults surrounding us.

To this day, we refer to DisneyWorld as “AssWorld.”

Not sure about Disney World, but at Disneyland (which I visited 56 times last year) the best holiday to go with the smallest crowds is New Year’s Day. Some possible reasons are as follows: People are hung over, stayed up too late the night before, want to watch the Rose Parade and the bowl games.
