LONG VIEW, NC (WBTV) - A mother had to shoot and kill her own son in what investigators are calling self defense early Friday morning.
Long View police responded to 1st Avenue Place in Long View around 1 a.m. in reference to a shots fired call.
When officers arrived they found 21-year-old Justin Barger shot dead in floor.
Barger's parents told investigators they had poured out all the alcohol in the house after Barger became drunk.
When his parents went to bed, Barger went into their bedroom and started assaulting them by pulling them out of bed and beating them on the ground.
His mom reached for a pistol when Barger started beating his father and she ordered him to stop, according to police.
When he came at her, she fired, shooting him directly in the chest.
No charges have been filed in the case and the district attorney assigned to the case says the investigation is ongoing into whether any charges will be filed.

I don't doubt it. Having too little blood in one's alcohol-stream can cause any number of mental problems.

Well, that will teach him a lesson.
What a horrible story.
Obviously a drunk, possibly PCP or some other recreational drug, 21 and still in the home, has caused problem before. dangerous person, the mother brought him into the world and she took him out. Probably doing the world a favor.
If you don’t respect your parents and you attack them you need to die or face prison.
I remember reading a Readers Digest true story many years ago, about a similar situation. Bad son, attacking parents, ending up with the father shooting his son in the chest while both were on a staircase in their home. Told from the father’s point of view that he had no other choice but to shoot and kill his son. Self-defense, no charges filed against the dad. Sad story, his recollections of happier times and the son became evil later on.

For all the foderall about illegal drugs, alcohol is the big scourge of this current young generation. Moreso than in a few decades. Why?
I would trade marijuana for booze in a heartbeat. When people get drunk, they want to beat their wives. Whey they smoke a joint, they want to bake cookies with her.
