Sean Penn Appointed Haitian Ambassador
LOS ANGELES, USA (defend.ht) - Sean Penn has accepted the job of Ambassador for Haiti, where he has spent the last two years managing a tent camp for displaced Haitians after the earthquake.
Sean Penn will now be the "ambassador at large" for the Caribbean nation.
Penn was offered the position by Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Laurent Lamothe, while at the Cinema for Peace benefit in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Picking up a humanitarian award for his work in Haiti, he told the crowd: "I do accept [the job]," before adding it would be nice to be "called, 'Hey Mr. Ambassador.'"
Another celebrity, supermodel Petra Nemcova became an Honorary Consul to Haiti in December.

And why the Dominican Republic on the other side of the same island maintains roadblocks. Haitian foolishness and lack of manning-up is deadly.

He’s starting up the Obama ladder of political achievement, should be a nominee for POTUS in about 10 years.

Maybe he can get the drug cartels to cough up the $3 Billion of stolen aid money?

Hey, Sean Penn’s political views not withstanding, this is a good thing. As Lurker mentioned, Penn’s been down there in Haiti giving of his time and effort when he could have been in L.A. or some other celebrity hot spot smiling for the cameras, ‘stylin’ and profilin’ and all that noise.
If all of Hollywood would follow Penn’s example in Haiti, it would be good for Haiti, good for them, and good for America too. Whether anyone realizes it, Penn is doing exactly what Christ would recommend, i.e., helping those in need.
Good for him.

Even if he is a bit of a tool, he at least is trying to actually do something to help in a bad situation. He is a better man then most liberals, I won’t crack on him for that.
To: DogByte6RER
The last time before Haiti I witnessed Penn in a humanitarian mode was the photo of him in New Orleans during Katrina bailing out his leaky boat. I was rooting for the leak.

Laurent Lamothe, Obama surrogate.
This would’ve been just a bit “too much” if Obama had
done it himself.

I have to disagree with you there. Isn’t he the same guy that was pressing to go to Iraq before the war to offer himself up to Saddam to be used as a hostage to be tied to a prospective bombing site.In such case, I would not consider him hostage but I would consider him target practice for the USAF.
