The Girl Scouts have a cross-dresser in the front office.
Ten years ago, Girl Scouts media relations officer Joshua Ackley was frontman for the “homopunk” band the Dead Betties. In publicity shots, he’s dressed in women’s clothing, and in music videos, he appears to be naked and feigning masturbation. The video for “Hellevator” portrays a woman being strangled in an elevator shaft while Mr. Ackley flashes a menacing grin.
Today he issues press releases, posts news and views on the Girl Scouts’ blog, and tries to mollify moms who are concerned about Girl Scout ties with Planned Parenthood. In fact, it was Mr. Ackley who facilitated the Girl Scouts’ “no adults allowed” workshop at the United Nations - the workshop in which the Planned Parenthood sex brochure “Healthy, Happy, and Hot” was offered, although part of Mr. Ackley’s job is to deny it.

There is a Girl Scout Camp at the end of our road.
If I had a daughter, she’d NEVER attend that camp.

I can’t tell if the link article is pulling our leg or what? Whatever some wicked adults are doing/not doing at headquarters, all I can think of is the sweet little ladies who sell the cookies and who are miles from any controversy. They are not complicit in any adult wrongdoing. Let the Lord deal with any wicked people for misusing funds, but leave the girls alone.

My wife won’t let Girl Scout Cookies in the house. They are full of trans-fats and high fructose corn syrup.
Fortunately, my wife makes excellent cookies from scratch, so I don’t miss Girl Scout Cookies.

One of you entrepreneurs could make a bundle selling knock-off protest cookies. It would be easy to undercut the absurdly high prices from the Girl Scout machine.
That will do it for us. And besides, the quality of those overpriced sugar bombs has gone way down. IMHO.
Obviously, it’s the girls who get hurt the most....in every way! Their parents should be aware of the shenanigans and leftist agenda of the Girl Scout organization.
Do you suggest a better way that we humans can show our displeasure to the organization of how they are behaving toward the girls in our society? Think a phone call or letter to Joshua at corporate headquarters would have much impact?
It’s too bad that the media being what it is will not report on the facts coming to light about the Girl Scouts.
People need to start keeping their girls away from this outfit.

The Girl Scouts has become an insidious organization.
My oldest daughter was in girl scouts for a short time, as her friends had joined. It was mainly a few innocuous meetings, and then the big cookie-sales push. With their money earned, the troop leader then organized a “spa day” at the mall.
Once we heard that, we dropped it.
Whole Foods carries “Fudge Mint” cookies, from Back to Nature.
They’re better than G.S. Thin Mints.

A local-going-national talk radio host asked how is it that America is the only country where a candidate’s position on abortion could be a top consideration for them holding high elected office.
He asked how could it be? He really didn’t want to think that the rest of the world could have gotten this one wrong. That Europe is sliding into 50% agnosticism/atheism (with encroaching Islamic colonies moving in) and spent the larger part of the 20th century chasing socialist utopian dreams under the banners of Communism and Fascism.
And they think that 18 is too long to wait for consensual sex with adults.
The United Nations is not clean in this regard either, with numerous accounts of rape and child sex slavery. Small wonder they would push a ban on age of consent laws and for “no adults allowed” indoctrination sessions.

One of the dollar stores Dollar General, I believe, sells a copy of “Thin Mints” for $1.85, they’re pretty good too, and I dont have to support the girl scouts.
BTW they also sell the others too, carmel delights, etc. Give them a shot for less than two bucks, you almost can’t lose.
The organization used to be worthwhile. Skills learning, working on badges, learning cooperation, patriotism.

I am not buying the cookies anymore, even the Peanut butter ones. GS deserves to go broke and be disbanded then let another deserving group that doesnt push these lib agendas take its place.

The girl scout leader had no clue what so ever about planned parenthood or anything and went to google it.
The message needs to get more out but of course most of the MSM a talk radio who are mostly cowards when it comes ot social issues and the likes of media will never mention most of this

If just the Catholic families left the girl scouts it would be a massive exodus and would send a message.
Truly, I think there is no way to save the girl scouts at this point, the takeover by the leftists is complete.
Yes, many troops are fine and good. However, by purchasing the cookies you ARE supporting the local and national councils who get the lion share of the profits. If you want to support your local troop, give them a cash donation only, no cookies! That way the communists in charge are starved for finances not the girls.

No idea, but why even bother with him? If the essence of the organization is changed to the point of actually compromising the girls, remove them. If not, let fools at HQ store up wrath for themselves while the girls guilelessly enjoy being part of a long tradition.

Glad to see your post - I just googled the “alternatives” and Frontier Girls showed up as well as American Heritage Girls. I wouldn’t let one slim dime of my money go to the Girl Scouts any more...adults who let their daughters be part of this organization need to wake up and smell the coffee.
Some people seem almost proud of their stubborn unwillingness to cut off this insidious organization’s primary source of revenue.

When that’s being promoted to grade school and junior high girls, how long will they remain “guileless”?
If you are approached by the littlest girls (5 or 6 years old) it is best not to explain why you can’t buy the cookies. Just tell them you’re on a diet or something and offer a cash donation instead.
The older girls I would for sure tell them why you can’t buy the cookies. They need to hear the truth.
Yes, it's rather sickening to see that some so-called conservatives would put an over-priced treat over principle.
I won't tell the younger ones, however, I have printed out a recent WND column that covers some of the controversies, and includes a link to a video made by a Girl Scout explaining a lot of this in some detail.
I plan to speak to the mothers and hand them the article explaining to them why I am not buying.
I don't expect it to be easy, these are neighbors, but, unlike some Freepers upthread, I care about the future of these young girls and women.
The GIRLS are guileless. When they’re selling cookies out front of a store (the locus of a boycott) they are trying to build THEIR organization, not that of some impostor at HQ. If critical mass appears eminent, parents should remove their children from the organization and shake the dust off their feet.
You and others may find this very helpful. I recommend printing it out and keeping it handy to use during the course of being sold cookies.
