Krauthammer: Romney Simply Doesn’t Have Capacity To Explain Conservative Ideas
mediaite.com ^ | James Crugnale

Posted on 01/17/2012 7:18:52 PM PST by TBBT

Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer sat down with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly and opined that Newt Gingrich won last night’s debate — in fact, he “won big.” Krauthammer criticized Mitt Romney‘s mediocre debate performance and was incredulous at how the former Massachusetts Governor wasn’t prepared for a question on his tax returns. “How could he not have prepared a nice short succinct humane answer about what he did at Bain?” Krauthammer perplexedly exclaimed. “He didn’t really have that — he kind of stumbled around.”

O’Reilly wondered why Romney was apprehensive to explain his capital gains tax policies. “I don’t know what they are afraid of, I think they are intimidated by the press,” O’Reilly observed quizzically. “I really think the press intimidates Romney and some of the others.”

“I don’t know if it’s the press,” Krauthammer replied. “But he simply doesn’t have the capacity to explain with some color and sort of force conservative ideas. He is a businessman. he, you know, he looks like he is chairing a meeting of the board….Why didn’t he say in the debate last night: Look, when the Democrats, the ones who supposedly are the ones who are the champion of the Middle Class or Working Class took control of GM and Chrysler, hundreds, thousands of people lost their jobs, dealerships were shut down, the Pontiac and other lines were shut down. You have to do it to save the company to enable it to survive and then to grow it as it is now beginning to grow and restore the jobs.”

Don't want to hear whining from Krauthammer. He's been a major player in the conservative establishment that's been trying to shove Romney down our throats.

Romney is no conservative. Never was. Romney is the anti-TeaParty candidate.

Well color me awestruck this douche has been carrying Mittster’s bags for months and NOW he says the guy can’t articulate?

It looks like he’s waking up to the fact that he can no longer convince the general public that Romney is a good debater, so he went into CYA mode.

Its important for South Carolina to realize Romney is running for his ego and legacy and not to restore the republic and articulate conservative values.

you can’t explain something you don’t believe in.

Romney is NOT a conservative, the best he can do steal lines from real conservatives and add them to his canned responses to every question.

Make no mistake about it. Romney’s job is to show the Republican party that there can be victories WITHOUT the support of the Tea Party.

It’s up to us to prove him wrong.

". . . “But he simply doesn’t have the capacity to explain with some color and sort of force conservative ideas."

Which is why he has no business going up against an ideologue who does "have the capacity to explain with some color and sort of force" the ideas of redistribution.

Krauthammer has been slow to come to admitting the obvious fact that Romney doesn't "explain" conservative ideas because they are not part of his intellectual DNA, as they are with someone who has immersed himself/herself in the ideas of America's founding history.

Gingrich quick analysis of opposing ideas, combined with an ability to put them in historical context, didn't just come about by osmosis. They came about through a lifelong study of history.

By the same token, the Fall 2012 opponent has studied, been mentored in, and well understands the ideology and strategies for presenting his case for redistribution, government planning, and control--all the while masking them in benevolence and "taking care" of those to whom he appeals.

His Republican opponent needs to be able to rebut, rebuke, and reveal the cloaked tyranny encased in his appealing message to those who see him as a benevolent leader, not a threat to their posterity's Creator-endowed right to be free.

Unless it’s something he’s passionate about - government health care plans and cap and trade bureaucracies for example. His heart just isn’t in to liberty and free enterprise.

Krauthammer is correct. Romney doesn’t have the capacity to explain force conservative ideas because he’s not particularly conservative.

[he can no longer convince the general public that Romney is a good debater]

Actually, Romney is a great debater, one of the best. If you mean at the high school or JC level where you are called on to take a side at random.

Romney himself believes in nothing but expediency, his lack of conviction oozes out of each sentence. Newt may be a flawed human, but one reason he comes over forcefully is he believes what he is saying. Ditto Perry, Santorum, even Paul.

If we were electing a used car salesman, Romney would do just fine.

quote “I would feel better is Krauthammer would say something like, “I don’t know what I was thinking..Romney is a flaming lib!””

before this is all over, I expect every single conservative sellout to say something to that effect.

It may not be until after he secures the nomination and then shows his true liberal colors, or it may not even be until he gets destroyed by Obama in the general when the base stays home. But mark my words every one of these turncoats will publicly express regret for backing Romney.

The Kraut is not a Conservative. On the other hand he's a pretty decent analyst in some areas so we tolerate him.

I think he thought there was more to Romney than everyone has by now found out ~ guess he didn't realize that some very wealthy businessmen are elementally DISHONEST.
