Reread the article. There are two incidents. One current, one previous.
they are white kids and they beat an asian kid. The beating was in retaliation for a beating the asian kid orchestrated against one of them. The 15 year old girl lured him to the alley.
I’m not going to watch the vid, so I’m just going to take others’ observations at face value.
Because, like any conjurer, the media want to divert your attention away from the ethnicities of the most recent crime.
I remember reading an article about an “untouchable” in India who started a leather goods store. Working with leather is ‘touching the dead flesh of an animal’ and apparently a job for an “untouchable”. But he was too successful and got a satellite dish and a well that his upper caste neighbors didn't have. So they got together and beat up him and his family, burned down his house and contaminated his well.
In America that wouldn't happen because of the quite real possibility of him being ARMED.
You might counter that then the situation would be an armed standoff with ever graver consequences - but I think that situation is highly unlikely.
Beating some ‘uppity’ neighbor and burning down his stuff has an appeal to the baser instincts of humanity that even the possibility of a bullet ventilating your internal organs puts a major damper on.
Being part of a violent mob = fun.
Having bullets fly past you = not fun.

My point is that punks would think twice about beating innocents if they knew there was a risk of a CCW holder being nearby.
You’re right. They’d never pick up a gun and just shoot whoever they were pissed at assuming that the person might be armed.
A firearm is a tool to be used under a narrow variety of circumstances. A firearm is not magical and will not solve all or even any of society’s ills.
Adding guns justs escalates. Morality, forced morality through 100% enforcement of laws, no more rehabilitation crap, or parole or pardons (Haley Barbour, what the hell were you thinking).
That is as idiotic as saying that nuclear arms just escalated the chance of war between the Soviet Union and the USA.
The idea that you may be in for a lot more than you bargained for if you start violence is known as “deterrence”, and it works.
Escalating the “cycle of violence” is the language of postmodernist squishy idealists who also tend to simultaneously entertain the historic delusion that “violence never solves anything”.
For those who didn’t read the article, the offenders were mixed Asian and white. The victim was Asian.

This latest is white kids beating an Asian student, calling him the “N” word (OMG!).
