I was struck by this passage from the story:
The video shows five males kicking and punching the victim while taunting him with racial slurs.
Police said Tuesday in a statement the incident does not appear racially motivated.

I’ll bet these seven kids are amazed by the reaction. It’s probably the first time in their lives when someone actually said “NO” to them and meant it.
Not to worry, they’ll get off with a lecture lasting thirty seconds and six minutes of probation.
You can't make sense of this? If COURSE it COULDN'T be "racially motivated" if the perps were black and the victim was white. Just by definition.

They will get typical Chicago “ justice”: should they ever even make it to court, the charges will be reduced to Disorderly Conduct and they will get a Bench Trial (or whatever a trial without a jury is called) and the judge will give them 30 days “supervision”, where they will see a social worker once to register, and then never again.
I would argue they're not raising them at all. They send them off to public schools and get thoughtless gang bangin', thrill seeking youtubers back home to live in the basement.
The person who was beaten in the video, Derrion Albert, died of his injuries.
Actually, the victim was black and his attackers were white.
Actually, a quick bit of Googling seems to indicate that four of them are being charged with first-degree murder.
WRONG.
I looked up the names given in the article, Raymond Palomino and Derrion Albert. Apparently this is referring to a case that’s actually several years old, so why this was suddenly front page news on Yahoo, I don’t know.
That was a previous incident. In the present incident the injuries were minor.
