With all due respect, I’d rather be the governor of Texas than a member of the cabinet.

I do like Gov Perry a lot, but this is the best thing to do. I like Santorum and Newt, but more importantly, anybody BUT RomnieCare.

I think that’s a very good summary of the problems Perry had. I bet he will get some kind of Cabinet position under Gingrich.

Well, Perry has been my number 1 choice all along. However, at this point it’s time for the conservative wing of the party to coalesce around the ABR candidate. At this point that increasingly looks like Newt irrespective of his past issues.

Thank you for doing the right thing Governor Perry.

Have not heard on Fox he might endorse Newt. He could just as easily pick Santorum.

This is good for the debate tonight, in that it will mean more time for Newt to demonstrate why he can and should be the one to take on Obama.

If you can't win lose with class. And Perry is showing real class at the moment.

Now the bigger question is in an ideal world where would Perry do the most good. In a Gingrich administration or back in Texas taking care of traditional America's last bulwark. The VP slot has been traditionally described as being worth a bucket of warm spit. Unless we have someone spectacular on the bench in Texas it seems a waste to move Perry there just to polish him for a later run.

If proven true, this comes at a critical time for Newt. He’s gaining momentum and that momentum could be stopped by his ex-wife’s interview. Bringing up all the reasons we have reservations about him. This could overshadow that, plus give Newt that much more time to shine in the upcoming debate tonight. Only four left, lots of TV time for Newt but I doubt he can top his debate performance on Monday. In fact, I don’t know that anyone could ever top that debate performance. It may have even been better than Reagan in his Mondale debate.

What are you talking about? He’s against SOPA. Stop spreading lies. I’d rather Santorum as president anyway. Perhaps Gingrich should drop out who got 4th place in Iowa and 5th place in New Hampshire.

I don't think Gingrich would pick Perry. He's run a disastrous campaign and is not polling well in Texas.

But I have a feeling that VP slot is going to be a new talking point for Perry supporters...sigh...

Well I am not sure how well a campaign machine Newt has since it keeps nearing collapse before a resurgence somehow or another. I dont think he has the infrastructure for the general election much less the cash. Perry is goint to be haunted by his “oops” moment and other gaffes painting him as another GOP “moron” that the left likes to characterize.
If Gingrich is the nominee (and I have my doubts) he would be better off with someone not currently in the field as a VP.
