Waiting on Perry to take podium any moment! He will endorse Newt!
A New Yorker was a veyr religious type. Once he retired he decided to visit a church in every state in America.
As he went from state-to-state he noticed a phone in the back of some churches. By the phone was a sign that said "Call Heaven - $10 Dollars A Call".
The man visited every state. From New York to California. After many months and many churches he finished his trip in Galveston, Texas. At a beautiful church. But something was different about this church. He once again saw the phone in the back of the church and the sign. But this sign was different. It said "Call Heaven - $.10 cents".
He sought the preacher out in the Texas church and said to the preacher "I have been all over America and in every church the call to Heaven is $10.00 but your sign says it is only $.10 cents. Why is that?"
The preacher looked at the traveler from New York and chuckled. Then he replied "My son, the reason is simple, in Texas the call to Heaven is a local call".
Just so you have the right perspective concerning Newt:

God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the CALLED!

This was inevitable, as Perry wasn’t getting traction.
I’m not surprised he endorsed Gingrich. If Gingrich had fallen, I’d have expected him to endorse Perry, they seem to have a good relationship.
Interesting that Perry immediately endorsed Gingrich, while Cain could never bring himself to do so, even though Cain was supposedly so respectful of Newt.
And I do think it will help Gingrich a lot, not because Perry has a large base of people to throw his way, but because I think a lot of the Gingrich folks would have been Perry folks otherwise, and Perry will help Gingrich keep them through the recent news.
Still not sure Gingrich will survive, or even win South Carolina, but this makes both more likely.
I feel bad for Santorum, because he won Iowa and he didn’t get credit for it on election night because of the counting errors, and he won’t get credit for it now because the news came out on a bad news day for him.
Free Republic has honestly examined the strengths and weaknesses of very candidate and although it is a painful process for supporters, it has been good for the process.
Some people can handle this vetting better than others because some can not face flaws being exposed in the candidates they support. To them, the person has to be perfect...and that is impossible. The lessor of two evils is as much a promise in politics as is the natural law of imperfect men.
I'm sorry, but that's a nonsensical, irrelevant question.

It is good that he is bowing out.
I honestly do no think Gingrich can win the general election. But, if he becomes the nominee, he needs our support to get rid of Obama — and getting rid of Obama will be no easy task. Gingrich would be my next-to-last choice, with Romney being my last choice.
If Santorum doesn’t come in #1 or #2 in SC, he is the next one who needs to consider withdrawing.
I am with that 65% in IA who said they would prefer ‘other’, but ‘other’ is not a real option.
And for me--a real answer to prayer.
Sometimes I fantasize about a voice from heaven shouting to the "bride of Christ": "Honey, you've shrunk your God."
Wow, a lot to catch up on this morning. Thank you, Governor Perry! I was a huge supporter when he first announced, and am now a Newt supporter. Would love to see Perry president after Newt serves his two terms.
A gracious speech from the heart and a perfectly worded endorsement for Gingrich. Perry’s love of the US and deep concern for our future is obvious and weighed heavily, I believe, in his timing to drop out today and to endorse Newt.
I will miss his relentless championing of states’ rights as the antidote to an out-of-control Federal government.
You know that I know Scripture, and know that God uses sinners. That has not been my point.
My question is whether or not Newt has changed his ways, recognizing that what he did was sin. If you have quotes or links where that has been addressed, please provide them.

South Carolinians have a chance this Saturday to nominate a bold Reagan conservative who will offer a dramatic contrast with President Obama this fall in the general election.
I ask the supporters of Governor Perry to look at my record of balancing the budget, cutting spending, reforming welfare, and enacting pro-growth policies to create millions of new jobs and humbly ask for their vote.”
Deb, I was already heartbroken, but your beautiful post has reduced me to a blubbering baby. I am sad,not just for Gov. Perry, but for our country. He would’ve been a wonderful president.

Gideon was told to cull down the small army he already had, so that it would be evident to all that it was God who had won the battle against the Midianites and not the strength of the people He used.
Moses was a murderer and Aaron made the golden calf for Israel to commit idolatry with, yet God used Aaron to hold up the hands of Moses so it would be clear that the Israelite army was victorious through God’s might alone.
I do question Gingrich’s humility, and it’s a worthy question to ask if he has repented of his sin. Is he messing around now? I do believe that confession is purifying, allows us to let go of the “sin that clings so closely”. I know Newt has said he regrets going on the AGW commercial with Nancy Pelosi. Sometimes somebody having the freedom to say, “I was a knucklehead and I won’t do it again” is critical, because we all make mistakes.
So it would be good to see if Newt publicly acknowledges his sin and has repented of it, because humility before God is important. God is the only One who can truly get us out of this mess, and I would prefer to have somebody in the White House who knows how to listen to Him.
He doesn’t need to ask our forgiveness. He needs to ask God for forgiveness...
I have a new found respect for Perry. Not just for the endorsement of Newt, but I think he timed this after he learned of the ABC smear coming from left-field.
I feel just as you, and I cried through his speech.
I feel it’s our country’s loss, and that breaks my heart as well. He would have been a great president!
