Perry Drops Out. Endorses Newt. Will Campaign and Serve.
Red State ^ | January 19th | Erick Erickson

I’m told reliably that Governor Perry will head up a 10th Amendment project for Speaker Gingrich to rally Governors and state legislators toward a plan of devolving power from Washington. This project will include helping shape the Republican platform for the general election.

Governor Perry will also campaign for Speaker Gingrich in Texas.

This plus the personal attacks on Gingrich driving the Cain supporters into his camp will bode well for Gingrich in South Carolina.

It is the Cain supporters that owe Perry an apology. Blaming Perry for leaks on the sexual allegations. The Cain folks have been bitter and nasty to the Newt folks and the Perry folks.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEWT!

The momembt I saw those allegations against Cain, I knew it was Romney.

It’s the same with this ABC hit piece with the bitter ex-wife -— reeks of Romney.

Sounds good at the surface but there is a giant fly in the ointment. The 17th Amendment allows the direct election of senators rather than them being appointed by the governor/state legislature. This is where the 10th Amendment and the concept of State's Rights was lost.

Without repealing the 17th Amendment, there isn't that much that various governors can do to restore the 10th Amendment and State's Rights. As long as senators were appointed by the governor/state legislature, state's rights were protected as was the 10th Amendment. When the 17th Amendment was passed, the allegiance of the senators shifted from their state to the VOTERS of their state. They were no longer beholden to the governor/state legislature for their position, they were now beholden to the voters of the state.

Since most voters pay little attention to what goes on in Washington, the senators were able to engage in whatever mischief they chose. Thus, we have the situation in Washington that we have today. The inmates have been allowed to run the asylum for way too long and putting this particular genie back in the bottle will be a particularly difficult task.

However, better late than never.

Paul has my silent vote in the VA primary, but I won’t go as far as a bumper sticker or yard sign.

I doubt it was Romney (the hit piece on Newt). More likely ABC news contacted Marianne and Mitt had nothing to do with it.

Not sure what to make of the Cain hits.

“Gov. Perry throws his support behind Gingrich... Good.’

Now if Santorum would withdraw and join the party...

Thank you to Governor Perry for his strong leadership in Texas and his conservative principles. Thank you, too, for endorsing Gingrich. Go Newt!

No, I lived in Austin for a short while. I actually liked a lot about him but there were some major issues-—like the mandatory vaccination for girls. That type of fascist thinking when you are forcing toxins into girl’s bodies to promote immoral activity is really troubling to me. This throws freedom on its head—in MANY areas-—all the fundamental issues in our Constitution.

I know people aren’t perfect—and he made some careless statements about homosexuality- (sodomy is always evil and there is no “special RIGHT” to sodomy—NONE) BUT he changed his statement and I appreciated that although I don’t think he “gets” it-—the insidious evil of pushing for homosexual rights which makes the Bible “hate speech”.

But—the thing which really bothered me most—was his inability to look smart during speeches-—he did at times-—sure—and he is good looking-—but at times he seemed really dumb and the evil press would have used it over and over to destroy him in the major race. True—the press will destroy anyone they don’t like—so we have to have someone like Reagan who can avoid looking too stupid....which the press even was able to make a lot of people think that Reagan was dumb. soo.....what would they do to Perry??????

I just know that Perry didn’t have a chance against the lying press. They can make anyone look horrible and stupid-—even Perry who has a lot of charisma.

I think VA keeping Newt off the ballot will make them laughing stocks (I live in VA). And it may just backfire on them. What if Paul wins VA because of this? Since Ron Paul will probably have his typical 10% support, and now he will get the NOT Mittens vote...he may be a big winner in VA. And that will tell all the other states that we DON’T want Romney, so much so we’ll vote for Paul instead of Romney.

Great news about the 10th amendment project. Hope they do it even if Newt doesn't get elected. Glad the two have willingly joined forces.

Now, I just hope the media doesn't knock Newt out, I don't think Santorum can TKO mittens or Obama. It would be good for him to get a little more experience. Governor, or running a business.

“Depending on the intensity with which they will pursue this and the overall scale they are considering, this is a long overdue, and highly welcome sea change in our national direction.”

I said to my friends after Obama was elected, we are going to hell in a basket and there is nothing the Republicans in congress can do to stop it even if they want to. It will be up to the states to stop the insanity using the 10th amendment.

When I donated to the state Rep running in 2010, I told him the same thing. He won a reliable Democratic District by 70% for the first time in at least 50 years.
