Romney adviser: We could lose South Carolina

Charleston, South Carolina (CNN) - With Newt Gingrich creeping up in the polls and potentially on the cusp of a South Carolina victory, one of Mitt Romney's senior advisers sought to change expectations ahead of Saturdays' pivotal presidential primary.

Though his campaign has competed aggressively in the state and is hungry for a win here, Romney strategist Stuart Stevens said the idea of a loss to Gingrich on Saturday is not far-fetched.

"Do I think we could lose South Carolina? Sure. Of course," Stevens told CNN after Thursday's presidential debate in Charleston.

"The very idea that we are sting where two days before South Carolina, having won New Hampshire, having done very well in Iowa, and the question is 'Could Romney lose South Carolina,' is such an absurd question."

"The idea should be does he have a chance in South Carolina," Stevens claimed.

When it was noted that Romney had a 10-point lead over Gingrich as recently as Tuesday, Stevens shook his head.

"These things were always going to close," he said. "I think it's very competitive. I think it's a four-way race. The whole race is very fluid."

All candidates debate performances have been overly critiqued. NO ONE EVER critique's Romney. His last debate was him stuttering and he looked apprehensive and weak.

This possibility is even more surprising since there still are two conservatives splitting the vote plus Paul in the mix. Maybe Paul is taking some Romney votes. If, so thank goodness.

Mittens and Neut, A pair of liberal a$$holes. One a tree hugging amoral opportunist, and the other a liberal Democrat with an R. after his name instead of a D. I can’t decide which is worse. Still, either one would be marginally better than that human shaped piece of fecal matter currently contaminating the white house.

The Democrats are praying for the Republican nomination process to continue indefinitely and unresolved? The Party is very divided on the candidates and there is no other solution.

I sure hope Newt wins. We need to stop Mitt is South Carolina. If we don’t it will get harder to stop Mitt. We need a Conservative in the White House not a status quo man like Mitt. GO NEWT GO!

Precisely. If they lose, they already said they might, if they win, they slayed the dragon. Smart move actually.

The polls had Nittwit up as high as 40% don’t tell me they weren’t playing with the numbers. Now when we are a day away, well jee, they had to bring it closer to the truth.

What really put Newt Gingrich over the top was his ability to knock it out of the park even with their attempt to block him from speaking in the debates.

GOOOOOOOOO Newt!

So, it’s fair to assume neither will get your vote in November as the nominee?

Romney had two chances for a knockout blow in South Carolina. He blew both of them IMHO!!! He whimped out, and failed to defend his tenure time at Bain, Inc. and floundered around in explaining his tax return release dates. Those are not fatal, to his pursuit, other then to reveal indecision and spin, bad traits for a POTUS at best!!!

The death blow has come simply because he is not forceful enough in responding effectively to his rival critics and he is simply not proactive at tearing the political heart and soul out of POTUS Barack Hussein Obama with gusto and determination!!! I fear, if Romney is nominated, he will be the whimp that John McCain was in the manner he campaigned against Obama, when he knew the America destruction dogma of Obama and his destroy America motivated Democrat Party!!!

The Republicans better wise up and take some hints from former war heroes, George Patton and Bill Halsley who basically subscribed to simply destroying the enemy by killing them in war. Killing in politics is not harmful to anything, other then bruised feelings and political failure which is exactly what Obama and his Democrat Party deserve!!! Treating the destroyers of America as the enemy of freedom, liberty and opportunity, is no vice and should be pursued with the gusto of winning the political war, taking no prisoners and sending defeated Democrats into the contaminated cesspool where they all so rightfully belong!!!

Wake up, Republicans. Being nice and proper to the “dirt bag” Democrats led by Barack Hussein “Muslim Brotherhood” Obama is a 100% waste of time, and....will lead to the downfall of this great republic!!! What to do??? Destroy Obama and the Democrat Party politically and send them into the wilderness for the next hundred years or so!!! Newt Gingrich has shown the path to political victory, but....all Republican candidates should not give Obama and his ilk a minute to relax. They must be aggressively attacked at every opportunity. Why? we are fighting for the life of our nation, that they are so ardently trying to destroy!!!
