Newt expands South Carolina lead (Newt leads by 9%!)
PPP Polls ^ | January 20, 2012

Posted on 01/20/2012 7:37:05 PM PST by Utmost Certainty

Newt Gingrich heads into South Carolina election day as the clear front runner in the state: he's now polling at 37% to 28% for Mitt Romney, 16% for Rick Santorum, and 14% for Ron Paul.

Gingrich's lead has actually increased in the wake of his ex-wife's controversial interview with ABC. Although one night poll results should always be interpreted with caution, he led the final night of the field period by a 40-26 margin. One thing that continues to work to his advantage are the debates. 60% of primary voters report having watched the one last night, and Gingrich has a 46-23 lead with those folks.

The other reason his ex-wife's interview isn't causing him much trouble is that there's a lot of skepticism about it. Only 31% of voters say they think her accusations are true while 35% think they are false and 34% are unsure. 51% of voters say that they have 'no concerns' about what came out in the interview.

The skepticism of Republican voters toward the media is helping Gingrich as well. Just 14% of likely voters have a generally favorable opinion of the media, while 77% view it negatively. Gingrich's attacks on the media have clearly played well with the party base.

His ex-wife is a pathetic jealous liar and this backfired on her and abc.

After Newts slapdown of King I have new respect for him. He has repented his sins and he has been forgiven by God. I am NOT greater than God so I say Go Newt.

Years of liberal media gotcha surprises that manipulate the Republican party, especially conservative Republicans has made the electorate wise to their nonsense. Main Stream Media epic failure.

Reminds me of Dan Rather “discovering” the Bush national guard memos.

Until a Freeper pointed out that the 1971 “font” didn’t exist until post-Microsoft-Word.

Nobody told Dan Rather that folks used TYPEWRITERS in 1971, not word processors.

Maybe I’m just a little naive but . . . I’ve been watching politics for a long time, and after seeing Newt this week and THEN to see Huckabee mention Obama’s transcripts and college applications make me wonder out loud . . . has Newt’s confrontational sparring with the news media debate moderators some how some way in a small part perhaps caused some in the GOP to actually find their “cojones” (as Sarah would say)??? Maybe this will be a new found inspiration for some of our wimpier GOP men??? I can only hope cuz it is going to get brutal between now and November with the 47% and his billion bucks war chest.

Yes, Santorum needs to step aside. Romney will be blazing in Florida and Newt will not need a split conservative vote. If newt wins sc and fl, he will win the nomination.

Gotta love it! Fox and ABC Thanks for your contribution to Newt Gingrich!

I'm getting a warm feeling that God is on our side - He is NOT going to let this great country be destroyed...

But we gotta keep fighting, gotta show we'll protect our country too - and his children.

Gotta help Newt against the Evil Triumvirate: The Socialists, MSM & Republican Establishment. He's threatened like never before. It's taken them decades to get so close to complete control. They know if we win this - they will all be swept into the dustbin of history - because Newt will NOT allow ONE Establishment 'Fox" in his hen-house.

He saw how that hampered Reagan (for example, he wasn't able to disband the Dept of Eduction, as he planned) - and GHW Bush and GW were Establishment.

Newt knows the pitfalls. And he has the backbone not to be manipulated.

The Triumvirate are coming at him like the Hounds of Baskerville.

We gotta have his back.

(Note: I favor Santorum)

That said, Mister Gingrich's play action offense and blitz defense are scooping Mister Romney's risk-averse offense and "prevent" defense.

(Another note: I'll vote for whichever GOPer wins the nomination, I'll provide hard work, and even including a little $$$(not enough to rival Soros, but a modest amt, nonetheless.)

"Years of Liberal gotcha questions"

NEWT has single handedly STOPPED THEM IN THEIR TRACKS, it was very couragous of him to take this approach, when advisor would have said no. He did it anyway and that makes him a leader.

Makes you wonder what is their next approach, tactic.

Personnal destruction, Racisms, etc.??? IT IS finished and we can thank NEWT for this.

Also makes you wonder who will volunteer to be the next Moderator to go up against Newt. What prized gladiator will the media sacrifice for that one? Going to be funny to watch.

I don’t think Rick has the money to compete in Fl. He will hopefully be out next week. If Newt pulls this out tomorrow the polls in Fla will also start to change. A few weeks ago Newt was Leading Mitt in the Fl polls. Then Iowa messed it up. That can change back very quickly.

They will see one ole geezer left over from the Reagan era in Newt and ramp up the pressure. Have to keep the younger generations of Republicans neutered.

Oh they got away with plenty. You can start with CBS in 1969 and their fraudulent "Hunger in America" special, when they invented the urban legend of old people eating cat food, among other lies. Then there was "yellow rain," about chemical warfare in SE Asia; Walter Cronkite telling America that Tet was a massive defeat when the opposite was true; exploding pickup trucks(faked), the "homeless crisis"(faked), any number of phoney environmental scares, satanic cult hysteria, no doubt a myriad of others I'm forgetting.

Just think how far down the drain we'd be on "Manmade global warming" if not for the internet.
