'I never thought I'd meet man who saved me'

Nearly 45 years after being rescued from a near-death experience during the Six Day War, a Palestinian woman met the Israeli officer who saved her.

Miriam Yassin, 60, a resident of the Palestinian village of Anin, was only 15 when she was injured in a shelling. Hezi Erez, now 75, served in 1967 as a junior commander in the region.

"When I arrived at the village, a local man came up to me and asked for help. He was sad and scared, and told me that his daughter was seriously hurt," Erez told Ynet.

Erez said that he acted of his own accord and with no authorization from any senior commander when he dropped everything to take the girl to the hospital. Her entire family accompanied them as they drove to a military roadblock near Megiddo Junction, where the troops tried to stop them.

"I came out of the car yelling, and demanded them to open the roadblock because the girl needed medical attention," he said. The troops relented and let them through.

"A few days ago I told this story to my son, and he decided he really wants to meet her, even though I didn't even know whether she was still alive," he said. ...

An interesting story of how an Israelai helped an arab girl to survive her wounds and took her to an Israeli hospital center for treatment.
God bless Israel. God save America from her Islamic enemies without and from the depraved evil destroying democrat party within.
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on the body of Christ and remove the evil reprobates from power in America, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, o God my Father.

Sorry for sounding cynical, but this is a dog-bites-man story. Now, show me a Palestinian who helped an Israeli...

Exactly, how many suicide murders did she raise. How often did she speak up for live and let live in the region.

"A mother to nine sons a grandmother to 26 grandkids, she was still living in her hometown."

And what are the odds that none of those 9 sons or 26 grandchildren hates Jews or wants to destroy Israel?

There was a Palestinian woman in Jenin - her young son was shot dead, and she allowed his organs to be donated to Israelis. I remember that story from some time back. Some people commented at the time, that in her position it would be a struggle to have overcome bitterness to be so generous.

But one must always strive to be the bigger person.

In a family that large you could get almost any kind of kook. Still, stories like hers have got to give pause to those wondering if Israel is really the rabid dog it has been painted to be, or if it is a cornered creature trying to simply preserve its own hide like any reasoning people would do. There is no cause for Islamic Arabs to act cornered, as underscored by the famous maps that show Israel as a little dot in the middle of vast stretches of Islamic lands.

I would lay no odds on that.

Almost everyone says that the younger generation of Israeli Arabs is more militant than their elders.

There are Arab Israelis who have the right to vote and are members of the Knesset. Lot’s of folks from everywhere on the planet. Not all of them are bad.
