Newsflash to everyone: Hispanic & “Cuban American” are not identical voting blocks.
“..speculation has been brewing that Gingrich may get the endorsement from Florida Senator and Cuban American Marco Rubio”
This should help. Could also use an Allen West endorsement as well.
You're right, but here comes the indiscriminate "Hispandering".
Frankly, I can't accept Newt's refusal to renounce this lame-brained notion of granting a virtual amnesty to anyone illegal who's established roots in this country, i.e. been here for years and working. There's no practical way to do that, and I believe Newt knows it. The ultimate outcome will be complete surrender to the Hispanic lobbying groups and the business community. And what is with this notion of finding community family sponsors for these people? It's utter nonsense.
There's nothing conservative about Newt's position, and he should catch hell for it; it seems, however, to have been swept under the rug after the initial indignation. This is a critical issue for our country(and at the top of my list of concerns), and we can't afford to engage in this kind of fanciful thinking.
Unfortunately, most of the MSM are stoopid and don't know the difference. They also seem to think all Asians are the same. Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean and Japanese all look alike, right? /sarc
I've had my bellyful of identity politics (the real racism) for a long time.
If you identify yourself with a hyphen you’re no American.
Trust me, most of them feel 100% American.
I knmow. There's also a certain class-clash between Cubans and Mexicans...
If Newt and his supporter, Rick Perry, are smart, they will find a way to bring a lot of hispanic-heritage voters into the Republican Party.
I live and work with poor and lower-middle-class people, most of whom immigrated from Mexico. All of the immigrants I know have green cards. They are hard working salt of the earth people who take care of their families, strive to make their marriages work, and send their kids to college or learn a trade.
They are naturally conservative, Catholic, and pro-life.
I think it is a mistake to lump the average Spanish speaking voter in with the activists from La Raza.
Newt will win a lot of them over if he promises to secure the border. I have been shocked to hear people who swam the Rio Grande say, “Its time to build the fence. Too many people are getting killed by the Zetas. We need to stop uncontrolled immigration”.
Oh yeah, almost forgot to add, they all think Obama is an idiot bolshevic.
So what’s with waving the Cuban flag around all the time and the fact that in southern Florida English is virtually a second language? I don’t care if it’s Gaellic , German or Spanish. I’m sick of this ‘’de facto’’ dual-language nation we’ve become. Why in the world do I have to ‘’press 1 for English?
I feel you.
Thank you. God Bless America.
